"Somebody I Used To Know"recently, and let me tell you, it sounds completely different that everything else, it has it's own style, well written, but what gets me is how it sounds like it was made in the 80's, probably because he sounds a? lot like Sting from The Police. had you noticed that he sounds a whole lot like Sting? is quite noticable.

Like for example, indie band fun. has just recently topped the Hot 100 while Lana Del Rey, The All American Rejects, John Mayer, The Script, Gavin DeGraw, Gotye, Florence +? The Machine, Emeli Sande and Andy Grammer have all shown growing support and success. For the next few years I see dance music to continue to thrive with emerging artists like Skrillex, Calvin Harris, and Dev. I don't think R&B will be making a comeback despite good tries from Usher, Brandy & Monica, and Mary J Blige. Country, I think will continue at its current pace but pop-rock & alternative music seems to rising? at an exceptional pace. I think it may be due to the largley popular "hipster" trend.

Leona Lewis came out with her single 'Collide' with Avicii. It came with mainly negative reviews because it was a dance single instead of her usual ballads. I think she showed off her talent and versatility but that's just my opinion. And don't? worry, I know not everyone loves this music. you're right, I'll be honest too, songs like S&M, Take Over Control etc. shouldnt be? playing on the radio. I just think people use the radio as a way of partying on their own LOL. Next, being an elctro artist doesn't make you crappy. Look at Lights Poxleitner, Cher, Maroon 5, Leona Lewis, Melanie Amaro (winner of the X Factor), Alex Day, P!nk, Shawn Desman and Adam Lambert. All these artists are capable of making accoustic songs but make? electro/dance music not only b/c it plays, but because it gets people moving. Matt Redman just came out with a dance song about human trafficking called 27 Million which reached the top 50 on itunes, I think elctro deserves less critisism

Firstly, have you not heard Climax by Usher, he's turned R&B again. Anyways, the thing is that as time goes by music changes to how the youth dance. Swing/jazz, rock & roll, and hip-hop were all ways for teens to simply dance with dance. Its just that now, "dance" music is what makes them move. Like, I'll be honest, I can't imagine Rock, jazz, or even pop play in a club. Dance music uses those themes because do you? really want to be dancing around singing about global warming?

Hey, you got new voices! It Will Rain is from Twilight? Damn, I thought that song was good! Well, it is, but the Twilight association kind of ruins it for me. Every David Guetta song has the same beat, and I heard that Guetta has been called the? best DJ in the world. Damn, whoever gave him that designation should meet my dad. Now that's a good DJ. I think she's okay but the fact that she's trying to get her kind of music back is admirable. The thing is that she's trying too hard to connect to today's teens who honestly could care less about her. I've also gotten tired of her trying to overshadow Lady Gaga. I've always thought her songs were always 'generic' but fun party songs. The song itself is fun and harmless but it's not awesome. I think she's seriously fallen from grace since her hayday, because her doing a song with Nicki Minaj is almost as bad as Paul McCartney doing it. I only say that because of her reputation, and I think she's officially destroyed her own reputation by doing a song with Minaj. Another thing that bothers me is that she's trying to freeze herself if a particular moment in time. She can't? go back to being 25, and I wonder why she tries. I first heard Whitney when she dropped "I Will Always Love You". Most? of the artists I was happy to see win except "Best R&B Album" going to Chris Brown, He's a 21st century Bobby Brown rip off (but with even less talent and even crappier songs). Adele never fails to amaze me, raw talent and a breath of fresh music air.. The highlight performance for me was The Band Perry doing "Gentle On My Mind" by Glen Campbell. Nicki Minaj's performance was dreadful.

I never? really payed much attention to Whitney Houston, but it's true that she had obvious and natural talent. We still don't know how she died because they said she didn't have enough water in her lungs to have drowned in the bath, but I really hope it wasn't because of an accidental overdose. That would be really sad. Of course the night belonged to Adele! I wouldn't expect anything less from her. Paul McCartney? Damn, I wish I'd seen that. Same with Foster the People. I love those guys.

Yeah I agree with mostly everything. I totally didn't know how Chris Brown won that with those other people in that category like R Kelly ! :O I think Chris Brown at least showed some good dance skills but his vocals really disappointed me. Paul McCartney & Coldplay also disappointed me but they were pretty good. Rihanna did acceptable at first but then she slowly got worse. Katy Perry was sub-par for me. oh, that is something I admit that I don't really understand. Like many actors that have been with Disney ended up getting 'songs'. I mean some of them weren't actually horrible but some are better off as actors. Nick actually has more talent than most people realize. The stars on Victorious can actually sing like Elizabeth Gillies? & Ariana Grande. In general I'd rather see them stay out of the music industry but since most dont really make a big difference, I try not to complain.

It's sad what has happened to NIck. Now they're just a disney rip off in the sense of turning the crappy actors from their crappy shows into mediocre pop stars. I'm glad that they have the 90's nick block on teennick but its way too late at night. They need to make a? retro nick channel. Nicktoons sucks they should just get rid of it. ahah, I expected you to say that. And I'm not saying her music is perfect? cause in fact I would agree with most people in saying she's "ruining" music. But she does have respectable songs like "The Harold Song", "Feels Like Rain" and especially "Goodbye". This is why I respect her as an artist. It probably all started when she wrote a song for one of my favourite K-pop groups but after hearing those songs, I gave her a chance.

yeah, but Kesha's story alone isn't gonna get me to buy her music. if she? was a straight A student, and that smart, and talented, she would have shown that in her songs on the radio. instead with a song like "Blah Blah Blah", it makes her seem like she's a stuck up prostitute with the mentality of a 5-year old. if she can't have an artistic integrity, or make meaningful music, i'm not interested in hearing the artist, regardless of their life story. that's why i can't stand her.

Am I saying I necessarily like these artists? No. In fact I know there are many more talented people that should be topping charts like Florence + The Machine? & Monica. The thing is that going up to the cast in a school play and saying "You suck" & what people say to these stars, isnt very different. I agree that not all dreams can come true but these Disney stars might have "bought" their fame. But several others didnt. Is their dream gonna kill anyone? Their having harmless fun. Sigh, I loved Disney back in the day when? they had cartoons and live action programming that didn't suck like Even Stevens. I wasn't much of a Nickelodeon kid but I loved Jimmy Neutron and the old Spongebob. Cartoonetwork also succumbed to mediocrity as well. I heard that there's gonna be a new TMNT show on Nick, I hope that turns out good, then we'd have one good show on each channel; Young Justice on CN & Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes on Disney XD. Did you know that Seinfeld is the richest unemployed man in the world? For good reason too, because his show was funny, and I still enjoy the reruns. None of the teen stars on Disney Channel are anywhere near as talented, and should't even be mentioned in the same breath. As for their singers, they are all either tone-deaf or nose-singers. I like? The problem? is that the general radio audience has gotten really lazy in the past five years or so, so everything sounds so generic that there's no point in listening to the radio anymore. I don't really see Panic! At The Disco? ruining rock & roll. First of all theyre not even rock & roll. They're like alternative rock. Personally I think its bands like them, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Hedley, Evanescence, Florence + The Machine, Coldplay & OneRepublic that are keeping "rock" alive. Rock & roll actually declined in the 50s. I don't think rock as a whole has died whatsoever. I mean almost everyone in my school listens to one of the bands I mentioned so yeah.

actually, the Billboard charts are based off airplay, sales, popularity, downloads, and a few other factors. in other words, America decides what's on the charts. thankfully, half of the artists in these 2006 charts were either one-hit wonders, not as big as they used? to be or no longer relevant, like say, The Pussycat Dolls, but that's not to say it was a terrible year for music. but by '06, everything pretty much started sounding the same.

simply put, i live in a place where there's really bad signal, and the computer signal just wouldn't work. so the uploads kept getting canceled, and finally after a? bunch of tries, i finally got the video to upload, which this will be the last Billboard one i make. James Blunt to me was a one-hit wonder, his falsetto doesn't impress me much, though that song was catchy. my favorite songs were "Ridin'" at #8 (real hip hop), and "Crazy" at #7 which includes Cee-Lo, check them out.

i honestly do not like Panic! At The Disco, however i do somehow find "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" catchy, but these bands are really a mockery to rock and roll music. Juelz Santana is just a stage name, his real name is Laron James, so no, he's not related. "Hips Don't Lie" is the only crossover hit i liked from Shakira, and it took me a while to finally warm up to it. Mary J Blige still makes? music, but she's not as big as she used to be. and "You're Beautiful" is an okay song.

i think i heard that "Because Of You" was about Kelly's childhood, but i'm not sure. i never had a problem with #31, but i'm in no way a fan of Cascada. yeah, i did my best to cut down the "My Humps" footage because i cannot stand that song. i'll let the fans of these songs enjoy it, but in all honesty, i only liked half of the songs in this portion including the other ones you metioned, but my favorites ones were T.I.'s song, and "Give It Up To? Beyonce is just unremarkable to me, I'm not a fan of her voice, it's just not my taste. What I hate most about her's and man hating songs in general is that it's not considered sexist, but if a man sings about how bad women are, that guy will be labeled as a criminal. In my opinion Beyonce is a legend and is one of the best performers out there but yeah I agree her songs have been going downhill. She's been getting pretty predictable with her songs. Hardly any of you men are as bad as what Beyonce sings about. She makes guys sound like heartless jerks with sex drives they can't control, which I don't think is true. If guys were as bad as all that, no one would want to get married to you. I mean, you're hairy, smelly, and sometimes rather vulgar (LOL), but? other than that, I think you're alright, and I'd rather hear her sing about her love for Jay-Z than about the kinds of cheating and poor treatment that she's never actually experienced.

ok, maybe you have a point (the Billboard chart has to be based on everything, thay way it'll be based fairly? on overall popularity), so tell me, since you seem to be an expert, do you think "The Boy Is Mine" would have still been #2 (i did hear that song a whole lot in 1998), and when it comes to all of the other songs that i put in that "didn't chart" segment, would they have all charted had airplay-only songs would have also been allowed to chart at the time? please answer back.

Billboard did obviously use a (slightly) different panel of reporting stations, but I find it hard to believe that "Iris" was #3 on Billboard's airplay year-end chart. I expect "Truly Madly Deeply" was number one because it had play throughout the? full year of '98, whereas "Torn" and especially "Iris" were released later in the year. However, on the pop format year-end airplay chart, as published by Radio & Records, "Iris" was indeed #1, with "Torn" at #2 and "Truly Madly Deeply" at #3. I unfortunately don't have the charts for the Hot AC or AC formats, which would have spun all three songs heavily, but for what it counts, on the alternative format ...

i saw the year end Airplay chart? and despite the number of weeks "Iris"spent at #1, "Torn" finished at #2, while "Iris" finished at #3. while oddly enough, "Truly Madly Deeply" was the top song in the Airplay charts. Had it been the Hot 100, i think "Torn would have finished #1, but i'm not sure. The Hot 100 in '98 was a complete mess, but i still enjoyed most of the songs on the Hot 100.

With all due respect, why is "Torn" the "actual" #1 song of? 1998? If anything, I'd think that would go to "Iris" as it spent 18 weeks at #1 on the Airplay chart, still a record to this day. But hey I like Natalie too.

the thing is, is not that they didn't chart, is that they couldn't. at the time, Billboard had a rule that songs that weren't released as physical singles weren't allowed to chart. in December of that year they fixed the issue, but those final years it was a mess. However, the majority of the songs on the actual top 100 were still big hits, i'm not taking? away from that. Those songs could have been there if Billboard didn't make that stupid rule, but sadly didn't.

wooah, I loved Aerosmith's song when I was a kid. Celine Dion & Shania Twain was everywhere here in Canada in the late 90s. I also really loved matchbox. @90sandearly00srule3 I like her voice, but I think she? tried too hard. She pushed her voice to the highest register possible for humankind. On the one hand, that's impressive, but on the other hand, there is such a thing as too high because your voice loses power in extreme registers. That's just my semi-professional opinion though. I should ask my vocal teacher what he thinks of her because he's a REAL professional. Oh well, Iris is still awesome. Probably the greatest love song of the 90s.

Mariah Carey was one of the best singers of the 90's, and one of the best female artists of all-time, period, that's what i think of her, unfortunately she's washed up now, she doesn't have it anymore, i think she should retire from singing. yeah, Billboard had this strict rule? about singles being released back in the day that a song that was not released as a single, couldn't chart, and "Iris" was one of them. it would end up being #94 in the '99 chart, but by then it was too late.

Backstreet Boys! God that takes me back. I actually liked those guys back then, but hey, I was 8. Didn't know better at that age. Jennifer Paige sings that song? I loved that song. Still kind of do.
