I know this comment is old, but do you really think ATCQ - a group whose albums featured hundreds of samples from various artists - would actually sue another hip-hop producer for sampling their vocals? Hip-hop producers? use waaaay more obvious, unchanged vocal samples as shout-outs all the time. I've never heard of one hip-hop artist suing another over a sample...record labels and non-hip-hop artists, yes, but never rappers/djs/producers.
