You all still have to remember that Troy never played free safety but Ed played strong safety and was amazing at it they switched him over to free safety because he could get more ints he was good at ss because he got? defensive player of the year when he was playing ss But don't get me wrong they r both Amazing players

I seen something better Ravens was playing against the charger... Right when they snap the ball ray lewis tackle him for loss right when he just got the ball. Also when Haloti was playing against the? steelers he hit Mendehall when just got the ball in his hand and also force him to fumble. Also Ed Reed ran back a 120 yard interception... playmarker out the ass dude.

Troy Polamalu has championships and makes plays more when in big game moments than Ed Reed. I have never seen Ed Reed (or any other player for that matter) jump over an offensive line at the snap of the? ball to get a sack.... wasn't that against the Ravens...lol

polomalu is the best strong safety now .? ED REED IS THE BEST FREE SAFETY OF ALL TIME. It is rare to have a playmaker (scorer) at safety.

No,? Ed Reed has much better ball skills. Any position you put either of them in, Ed will have more INTs. End of story. If you swapped positions, Ed would be a better SS then Troy would be a FS. Troy just doesn't have the cover skills while Ed Reed would be a bit undersized for a SS but can still hit.

First of all in the steeler defense they have troy all over the place. second of all since alot of people wanna say that troy is a better player than ed reed i decide to prove them wrong. And if you look at adrian wilson? stats, his actually better than troys.

you need to learn the difference between a FS and a SS. the FS is allowed to roam around more whereas the SS has certain assignments he must follow. if polamalu was just sitting back and waiting for the pass to be thrown so he could run to it, he'd have more? INTs too.

And just look at who is more vital to their team. The Ravens defense without Ed plays at an high level regardless. Without Troy the Steelers defense suffers tremendously. The stats you seem so fond of will prove it. Regardless we aren't changing each others minds. I'll be honest here. Reed is a fantastic, wonderful, excellent player. After reading what you wrote I don't think you would say the same of Troy, but just ask anyone else. The argument of who's better differs on ?

Also yeah, he's been burned. It happens when you suffer an ankle injury. Ask Ed if his nerve problem ever made him run slower or play at less than he was comfortable doing. If Troy couldn't cover as you say he can't then why would he be back there? If i had never heard of TP and read your post I would assume he was a 3rd stringer. There's a reason he has gotten all the attention and notice that he has. He isn't a playmaker he? is a game changer. He makes plays when it count's the most.

Of course Ed had better stats. It's already been stated that he's the better ball hawk. The thing about Troy is that he brings things to? the table that Ed doesn't. Things like run support, things like jumping over 5 guys as the ball is snapped and making a sack (something Ed would never be able to do), things like forcing a fumble on the opposing QB in an Conference Champ game.

Actually check that... the only guys i would say after 05 that have played at the level or above the level of a 2002-2005 SS ed reed were sean taylor and bob sanders. Both of those guys in their time were better form tacklers, run and pass coverage guys than TP is. definitely sean taylor he was a beast? on both fronts. Polamalu imo is overrated. Troy can't cover the backfield i mean yes as a SS you need to be great in run support but as a SAFETY if you cant cover why is this conversation even had

I mean i just have to clarify this for everyone. Ed reed came into? the league as SS and in those 3 years played better SS than anyone has after 05. no one in the league right now played SS like reed did. he was good in run support and exceled at pass coverage. the only reason he switched to FS was because the ravens drafted dawan landry and he sure as hell couldn't cover the backfield. w/e the switch may have been beneficial to reed's long term health playing in coverage predominantly now.

... Ed reed has a nerve impingement in his neck which is a worse injury than an ankle injury and has lingered since 07 i believe. He will play with it for the rest of his career and on top of that at any moment can be? paralyzed. YET ed is never exposed like troy. btw to that FS-SS stuff... go back and check ed's 2002-2005 stats you will realise that troys don't even compare. what did ed play those 3 years? SS. ya. btw TP was also exposed in 08 vs. arizona was he injured that time too?

Troy's injury was still lingering during the Packers game. And as much as I don't like Brady he can just about throw wherever he pleases. Fact is Ed's ball hawking skills are far and beyond what Troy's are. Troy has great ball hawking skills to a lesser extent but is also much stronger in run support. That's why Ed is a free safety and Troy is a strong safety. I might like Troy better (biased as I may be) but don't think I wouldn't love Ed just as much were he on? my team.

Stats don't always tell? the whole story. Most quarterbacks find where Troy is and then throw it somewhere else.

If you look at his interception and tackle numbers in that 3 yr span to any troy Polamalu 3 yr span u will realise Ed was actually a better SS than? Troy ever was. Ed won DPOY as a 2nd yr SS and had 8 int's that year. Troy arguably stole the award this yr from clay Matthews.
