Apparently some people are not aware that Elton John had emergency vocal chord surgery in 1986/87 which permanently changed his voice from tenor to baritone. Elton was fortunate enough to have his voice recover to the point where he could even sing again... he had to re-learn how to perform with his new voice. It would have killed the careers of many? performers however Elton went on to create many new hits after that surgery. Personally, I'm glad his music is still alive.
