Of course, Rosemary Clooney's version is really great as well as the many other artists who've done it, but what I like about this video is that it was pure improvisation, a mark or an experienced jazz artist,? they just did this song right there on the spot without rehearsing it. If given the time and attention they could give to actually do a proper rendition I'm sure they could pull it off since Amy and Jools have great respect for standards.

Haha really? xD I honestly don't think anyone has "feeling & emotion" in their voice like Amy does. Dead or alive, drug addicts or not. But emotion and soul aside, she had a brilliant rasp in her voice, an incredible amount of vocal power, and just a singing style that was profound and versatile. You can like a painting because it looks pretty, but if you can't grasp the emotion and meaning in the colors and textures, then you have no clear idea of what the true beauty of the art piece is. En fait c'est un hommage à une petite fille souffrant d'une maladie incurable qu'elle a rencontré dans un hôpital et cette rencontre a bouleversé Nolwenn. My understanding: O was a really good album, Damien's singing is? really heartfelt & the instrumentation is lovely - even if the songs aren't perfectly crafted the atmosphere created by him/Lisa etc really carries the whole thing through. 9 crimes however...perhaps "shit" was a bit strong, but it's hard to deny that it's not as good/there are hundreds of people who could give a performance or write a song far better than this one who are nowhere near as well known as Damien...

Oh, Damien is possibly the best songwriter ever, he puts all his? feelings to his songs and they were magical together! I still listen to them often but it depresses the hell out of me! That's why i love Lisa's solo...always makes me smile. But it's true there was a lack of certain depth in Sea Sew...Passenger is different...I even have the feeling she reffered some of the songs to Damien...well 100 people = 100 opinions, right? :)

I have to say Im vastly underwhelmed by her stage presence on her own. The songs are ok? but there was a dynamic with these two that made them special. They are half of themselves with their solo material. Not trying to insult either because both are vastly talented in their own ways, but they dont work quite as well by themselves

Does anyone have a description of what actually happens in this song? I get that the judge put it to the girl to say if Jamie was guilty or not, and that she and her father argued about this in front of him... But what I don't understand is a)Why does the Father saying he will quit the land act as a threat? and b) It sounds like in the last verse she frees Jamie but doesn't go with him and takes back all her jewelry except for one? token he is to keep on his right hand. To me, who is born and raised in Northern Norway, it is quite easy to recognize similarities between my Norwegian dialect and Faroese spoken (and written, for that? matter) language. Interesting, considering that there is a language research project going on with comparing different Norwegian dialect markers with, among others, Faroese language. Well, enough from me.
