I wonder if it would be possible to convert these amado into fly screens. Do they close without gaps? They look like they have a frame which can be filled with fly screen instead of wood. That is, of course, if they aren't used for anything else. We were also wondering: those gas canisters below the kitchen window, are those for the stove? Japanese-style rooms. Traditionally made of rice straw to form the core with a covering of woven soft rush (igusa) straw. you could very (very) loosely describe it as a high maintenance carpet, but they are actually panels that are sized to fit the room. Its also difficult to clean thus, high maintenance.

When I lived in Japan, I got caught out.I ;looked for English friendly Dr and Dentist. Their web page was in English and said they speak English. But when I got there they didn't. At least I could speak? a little Japanese to get buy. My biggest concern was seeing an OB/GYN as I didn't understand medical terms if somwthing was wrong in my pregnancy.

I get your point :) But this doesn't supprise me :) Because I saw your English-friendly videos, so I kinda get it. As European, English is really "second language" in all European countries, even if they're not in European Union. Most sites have English version of site, all the support is english friendly... But on other? side you can see some nationalist who think English is ruining their culture and their language. Maybe Japanese think the same :)

So, english doesn't have 3 alphabets? abcdefgh, ABCDEFGH (and cursive). I don't know about you, but like Hiragana and Katakana, they don't exactly look the same. And then you have cursive. Now they look even harder (you have a very long? line of swirls), and it's still supposed to be the same. Yes, we also have a very confusing system. You are simply use to it.

From what I have seen of english webpages of japanese sites -if they exist at all- the english is really bad. Could make a living from contacting companies and offering them to make their pages more understandable. Except they don't like to hear that, as you have covered with the english DJs. Also speaking japanese is the least of my worries, it's reading. Sure, why not? have two alphabets with 60odd no sense making letters each and 5000 complicated kanji and mix them up. I suppose if a foreigner were to come to an English speaking country that we would want them to learn English so maybe Japanese companies expect that foreigners coming to their country should learn to speak to them in Japanese. I know if i? were having trouble translating something to English from another language that Google Translator really helps me out. If you are writing an email to a Japanese company perhaps you can use Google to translate your doc/email to Japanese and they might respond

Well I don't know about the "not supposed" to be able to speak english. Like from one point it's logical they don't speak it since? they live in Japan. But I see english more as a universal language. I don't live in a english speaking country, yet I speak english. Why? Because it's the most used language and therefore I learn it. I? don't know that it's pointless to cast some inquiry into the popular attitude of any country about it's past. One reason I watch your channel is to learn about the modern culture of Japan. I don't put the onus on you to ask these questions, but I would be RIVETED by any self-review they had to offer on this topic. It's an identity thing. In Japan they are scared of showing their full face or telling their full name or such things. Also masks? are popular for other reasons in Japan, it could be a fashion thing or just because you are shy and they feel more comfortable to hide behind a mask. Especially teenagers. I know that TheJapanChannel does his filming in Japan, but I was referring to U.S. law. Since putting videos on YT means they are seen in the U.S., as well as in Japan, that would be enough for YT & those drivers? to say that the drivers permission is required. I'm sorry, I'm not a legal expert. I'm calling on knowledge, that I learned, as someone who was very active in street photograph for years. I got my legal info from publication for photographers.

Oh man can't believe some people have nothing better to do with their lives than complain about a video that is performing a valuable? public service ! One thing I noticed about the Japanese psyche is that they do have a bit of an inferiority complex and so are always anxious to prove how good Japan is at various things. This leads to self censorship and the avoidance of tackling serious issues. Personally I would've gone to youtube and asked those complainers to prove they were in the video.

What YT did, is a? reminder that, the law does not require you get the permission, of a person WHO IS IN PUBLIC, to photograph them (as many YTers know), but getting their permission to publish those images, IS required by law. Too many think not needing permission to film means not needing permission to post on line. Courts have ruled it's not reasonable to expect privacy when in public, but statute law says to publish photos w/ an identifiable person in them, you DO need their permission.

Perhaps I should have wrote something like "hilarious depending on the joke/situation/people/etc." Just because I didn't write a disclaimer to make my statement completely politically correct, doesn't mean I intended to offend anyone.. Of course, if someone were to act like that towards ESL learners, they would be an asshole making? a bad joke based on prejudice and ignorance. I put the small snakes that i find around my house in an old pillow case(or any bag without holes, but still lets air in for the snake). Then take the sealed pillow case to a nearby forest and release them. I don't kill them because they eat mice and some birds? also eat snakes. Everyone has a place in nature. BTW i use leather welders gloves(cheap) to catch the snakes(most snakes can't bite through strong gloves).

We get Eastern Brown snakes around here and they move like lightening...I generally wouldn't mess with them. The babies are feisty but cannot really do much harm because they are so small( their mouths are tiny and they can't latch on).
