I know swan lake is a ballet. I'm a ballet dancer myself :) but i also know that swan lake is a music piece and a movie! all based of course on the ballet, but i wouldn't compare? the cartoon-movie to the ballet, as i wouldn't compare this to the ballet. I don't think using Tchaikovsky's music in a circus-performance is plagerising his work (he made the music, not the choreography). Plagerising would mean that they took credit for the music. As of the choreography, they DID make original content.

I think it might be in the future someone who will produce a better Swan lake than Petipa. Remember the Swan lake ballet you see these days, has been changed and changed by various choreographers and especially the music of Tchaikovsky, since the time of R.Drigo. This is an example of how far things have changed. No longer does anyone remember Swan Lake the ballet. Taking advantage of morphing the original intent of its creators into vaudeville is now what people think it is. High art is no longer respected.
