Not a bad little list at all. A few suggestions that IMHO, are deserving: Summertime Blues (cover) by Blue Cheer. Their only hit, but these guys were pioneers of metal/hard rock. Omaha or Miller's Blues by the one and only Moby Grape. Moby might have been as big as it gets had they not been so starcrossed. And those? two songs are as good as it gets in blues rock. Hush or Kentucky Woman by Deep Purple. DP was/is certainly influential (and still around). Nice vid, btw!

The music of these two decades is timeless. It got me thru high school, carried me to war, substained me thru the war and then brought me home. Reminded me of lost loves, and? exciting new loves. We grew up with this music, entered adulthood with it and endured trials and tribulations with it. It takes me back to endless summers, cars and hot girls. Sadly it also reminds me of the friends I lost in war and friends of life, who have gone all too soon, but with the music, they live on.

We might be older, but I still agree with the younger people...was much better back then than it is now and more enjoyable than what they have to go through now...although there was the Vietnam War then to deal with. The? music was so much better and people appreciated the LITTLE things...before technology took over and people got more selfish. Everyone gets older...heck, they will be saying the same thing as you 40 yrs from now. Glad we got to be young back in the better days though.

I agree - everybody is entitled to their own opinions; mine being the opposite of yours that's all. To completely disregard the entire history of music for the 40 years, simply shunning it with the words "not very much happened" is a little bit ignorant. I don't particularly like the music of today - my main interest being in 50s and 60s, however a? hell of a lot has happened since 1970 with some great stuff being made. Even the general change in music style has to be at least something!!

Right now I'm 14 and I have always (since I was about 10) wanted to have lived back in the 50's instead of this shitty time. Back then everything was made by hand and with care and quality. I just wish? I could have been a part of it. Sometimes I get sad because of the fact I wasn't part of the golden ages of our lives. If anyone wants to talk about these things pm me I might not respond right away but we can talk once in a while.

This man is one of my great heroes. And he is so right here. The 1960s never ended, and in a way it was the first modern decade. But the? cultural revolution of the west (and in Japan) started much earlier, probably in the 1920s, well before the second world war, but was interrupted by the terrible, senseless events in the 1930s and 40s in Europe and Asia, and then by neoconservatism in America. It was only in the 1960s that the real change appeared out of the underground to the mainstream.

As the hydraulic pressure in the aircrafts? systems decayed (the lines were fractured in the crash) the canopy gradually closed under it's own weight, the aircraft then sank. The air sea rescue crews frantically tried to locate Captain Shaffner but to no avail, his body was never recovered. HTH, John.

Cpt Shaffer was vectored to intercept an un-identified target, the target turned out to be a Shackleton that had technical difficulties with it's radio equipment. The intercept was at very low level and very low speed, unfortunatly Shaffners aircraft bellied into the sea, this damaged the aircraft? badly but essentially it remained whole. Captain Shaffner was able to open the canopy and vacate the aircraft, sadly though he did not have the vital survival equipment with him. See next post!.

But that was the point, they weren't allowed to sing about guns, violence and rape because as it was the sixties, the era of love and peace, those things were totally unacceptable. I remember vividly the commotion when a neighbour of my cousin in? 1967, was released from prison, they chased him out of the street, he brought shame, so wasn't welcome anymore. Yes, the good old days.
