Um duh, how many 5/6sp manuals do you know of that can handle 2000hp? Not many man, the only ones I can think of would be a lenco and maybe liberty, and a lenco is much different from any other trans. To build a manual strong enough would be very expensive. I hate when people rag on autos on high power cars, especially with turbos.? A turbo stick car loses boost between shifts and cant build boost off the line very well.

Awesome show! I disagree with one thing that Mark says. (54:15) Mark says he? does not parallel compress live drums because you should be able to balance everything out and make it sit in the mix properly without parallel compression. Parallel comp is not only used to help the drums sit in the mix, it is not only used to help with presence. It is also used to add size, color and room ambience or to distort a signal as an effect. Thoughts anyone?

If it can always knock down someone standing up, it would have been able to kncok? down the shooter too if he wasn't prepared for the shot as well as holding the heavy gun. The buller LOSES energy after it leaves the barrel. The only way it would have more enegy than when it leaves the shooter (standing up) is if it has a little rocket. Well, some bullets explode so it gives off a bit of extra kick at the end, but the main damge is piecing, not kick.

The only things that have been known to stop a .50 BMG are 3 foot thick mud walls. Not even three inches of solid freaking steel can stop? it. And that's not even the armor-piercing variant. Unless they can make armor that won't MOVE, AT ALL when it's hit, it'll still have the effect of a sledgehammer to the chest.

Whatever you want to believe, I don't care. It's your choice to be the dumbass. Scientists who are working with carbon nanotubes believe? they can make body armor that stops a 50 caliber round. When it would arrive and how much it would cost is another story. The ONLY way a 50 caliber round will kill you through a feasible chest plate is if it dents the back of it into your chest. Otherwise, it would feel like a hard punch and thats it. It's not as heavy as an artiller round to make you flying.

Perhaps you can make an armor light enough to "reduce" the damage by making it explode the bullet before it actually hits the plate. Just like how some vehicle armors explode missles to destroy part of it before? it actually does it's work on the armor. Then all you have to worry about is stopping the? tungsten penerator. But then it might still do some damage to like your arms and face and stuff everytime your vest explodes to stop a bullet. :p

Why don't you aski your Physics teacher if that's how it works. It's called the Law of Conservation of Momentum. In common lingo it's "Every action has an equal an opposite reaction". The reason why that doesn't "break your hand" is because 1) the Gun has weight and 2) the momentum isn't concentrated to a point like a bullet, its distributed accross your palm. The moment the bullet leaves the gun it also LOSES momentum due to air friction. ?

The current work is on reactive armor. It's armor that hardens up when something impacts it. So far they can stop like knife thrusts. If they ever get to a point where your flexible suit can harden up fast enough and stop the round AND distribute it across you? body, then it can stop a 50 caliber round. But it will prolly still knock you down. Much like you have to lean forward with a big rifle or the kickback would knock you down.

If a .50 caliber is that "powerful" like an artilery shell or something, a sniper with a Barret 50 would not be able to fire it with his shoulder absorbing the .50 caliber bullet at point blank. That omg 50 cal is sooo powerful it goes through buildings is just as hype as this insert stopping M-16 bullets. The? problem is with current materials, you can't strap an armor on that heavy without it being an encumberance far exceeding practicality.

That's not true. It is possible for a human to absorb the impact of a .50 caliber. A sniper with on of those rifles absorbs it point blank with his shoulders. The? question would you be able to walk arround in an armor that weights that mugh.

I'm sure people have already answered you, but I'll give it a crack anyway. Even if you could make armor that could stop a .50 BMG bullet, it would? still break every bone in your chest and probably kill you on impact. It'd be like getting hit by a truck at top speed. We're talking a bullet that can puncture solid concrete walls and 2 inches of steel. It's used to destroy the engines of vehicles. Doesn't matter how hard your clothes are, the only thing on the other side is YOU.

Level 3? will stop ball ammunition in the .30 cal. range, not AP. And it would require a hard plate like ESAPI to stop armour piercing M995/M993. That's more like 7-14 lbs, just with the front/back plates, and another 5 lbs for side plates.
