My Dad was a bomber pilot. He died when I was only 2yo but I remember playing my Mother's 78 of this song when I was young. Hearing it? again brought tears to my eyes!

Indeed - I second that. Get them to tell you their stories. Had an uncle who was part of a bomber crew that was shot down over occupied? France during WWII. He made it back to England thanks to French Underground. He would never talk about what happened. No idea what kind of bomber or anything else. He's dead now. I wish we could have found some gentle way of getting him to tell us more of that story.

Were losing so many of these fine souls of this time period. Please if you know someone of this era, take the time to talk to them and learn thier history. Its priceless. Although WW2 was hell, the world was a more honest, pure time back them. Give them a hug? for me. I miss my father F4U Corsair pilot and mother oh so much. God Bless them all.

Anne was a great vocalist. There was a WWII movie called "Wing and a Prayer". Borrowed the title from the song.? Don Ameche was the star. Thanks for posting.

My aunts used to sing this song as I was growing up in marvelous harmony and at a slower tempo. It's so wonderful being able to hear the original recording, though I'll? admit I feel my aunts sing it better. lol!

I saw Anne in 1976 at an RAF concert for vetrans. We as young RAF trainee's had to dress? in WW2 uniforms to make up the numbers. It was a great concert which brought home my Uncles time in the RAF during the 2nd WW. We met her afterwards and what a great lady. She was totally interested in what we were doing in our training. Anne Shelton was definetley the Air Forces sweetheart.

Heard this for? the firdt time being sung at a WW II day on the Severn Valley steam Railway with a swing band. It knocked me out. As someone else posted it gets the emotions going. Brilliant.
