Yeah, I've only seen the 12oz bottles. I like this one? as much as last year's. There's a lot going on in it besides just hops (although Bigfoot is a hoppy Barley Wine). I've got a few bottles going into the basement for "later".

lol, that's a big bottle for that big beer. I haven't seen a 24oz of it for this years around here, oddly enough. I heard this year's not as good this year, but I don't know....I still liked it a lot. I like it? more than I had it back then when my pallet was still green.

I had the 08 version on tap at mcy local pub and it ages really well. I actually preferred it when the hops had faded a bit. The fresh one is more like a double IPA than a? barley wine to me. (Not that that's bad. they're both fantastic in ther own way). I hope our government monopoly will make it available to us soon. :) CHeers

Yeah, I really like tulip glasses for beer. Natural light always helps as well. I really enjoyed last year's Glissade but I haven't tried this year's yet. We have? had a warmer late winter than normal. Trees are budding out so hopefully we don't get a freeze.

This trend of cutting down to 4's is bullshart. This happened with Brooklyn's Monster Ale (Barleywine that is inferior in hop goodness but is 10.1 and back in 2005 was 11.8!!). Weyerbacher's Blithering Idiot is like this (cloying barleywine trash). 4 packs are for? wimpy wine coolers. Dog's 90 minute should have never started out this way (not a true Imp. IPA in my opinion...coffee notes?!? blech). People that enjoy real (no nit picking..cask conditioned folks) ales have the means to afford them!

I love Bigfoot as well, and it holds a special place with me, it was the beer that got me into craft beer, 1996 was the first Bigfoot I ever tried, and I immediately fell in love, before that I drank exclusively macro lagers, mostly Coors Original, Heidelberg and Rainier,? You are correct,? traditional Barleywines don't have much hops. US brewers definitely like the hops and I enjoy them but sometimes it is nice to have a more traditionally brewed to style beer such as this. Cheers!

Barleywine isn't supposed to? have *prominent* hop notes. They're supposed to be malty with just a hint of hops to cleanse the palate. This recent phenomenon of over-hopping everything is really confusing the genres! In fact, I've proposed to several breweries that if they're going to have a hoppy, high-ABV beer... that it should be called a "HOP-WINE" should another category not be more readily appropriate. Please support this cause!

Any plans on reviewing the new Sam Adams Seasonal (Alpine Spring) in the near future? I tried it last Friday on draft at an? Applebee's in town and was instantly impressed. Thankfully, my local Kroger already started carrying it and I got a six-pack as soon as I could. Definitely has turned me on to Keller/Zwickel Biers. Too bad other beers of the same genre are probably nigh impossible to find, other than ordering them online.

A Barleywine is a style of beer that not many people are familiar with. DuClaw Brewing Co. is out of Bel Air Md. They are usually strong tasting beers with high ABV. Not for the faint of heart.
