Because Obama grew up in a different time. And you cant point to one man's success as an excuse to ignore general trends. Again, middle class income declined 7% in ten years. I don't agree. If there was no "economic mobility", how did Obama get to where he is? If there was no "economic mobility", why are more entrepreneurs and small businesses than ever before? ? Just because income inequality has increased in recent decades, does not mean that "economic mobility" has disappeared. It just means the opportunities are bigger than ever before. Whereas Romney donates millions to charity each year (to his Mormon church AND millions to other charities), Biden gave $369 last year. That is not a typo. He grew up without a father for one thing. His mother didn't make a whole lot of money and? he often had to get dropped off to live with his grandparents b/c his mom was too busy working. He wasnt poor, but he grew up lower middle class by most accounts. As a kid he often had trouble with the fact that he did not fit clearly into either the black or white community, leading to a sense of "outsiderness" He clearly did not grow up a privileged child, unlike Romney.

You say that you know a lot of people who think Romney's lived a sheltered and pampered life, and I don't really question that. But where was Obama's struggle? Where was his great suffering?
