You do of course realize that there's a significant lag time between drilling for oil & lower prices, right? All research indicates that, even if you drilled all of America's oil resources, you wouldn't see much of a decrease at the pump. This energy policy is neither supply or demand side. It is simply strategic management of national resources. If you focus on a narrow range of factors, Reaganomics looks successful over the past 30+ years. THE ENERGY CRISIS WAS BECAUSE DEMAND SIDE ECONOMICS! The whole reason it happened was because OPEC put an embargo on the US making it hard to get oil and Carter was to wimpy to drill. The demand was insane and the price of oil was skyrocketing. Rationing was the only way to stop an almost hyper? inflation to occur where our currency is worthless in the real world. Oh and if you can not contribute Reagan's economic policies to 80s success then contribute it to the 90s which were also great.

It's just factually incorrect to say that, had Reagan lost, the Iranians wouldn't? have released them. Carter negotiated the whole deal for a long time. Calling me or other people names doesn't lend your argument any credence. You're missing out on losses in real income & disposable income initiated by Reagan. We haven't been ABLE to practice Demand-Side economics since the early 1970s. The problem with supply-side is that we've had it for 30+ years & the law of diminishing returns is in effect.

I do know my history already. A lot of the things that Carter gets blamed for were largely outside of his own control. His defeat by Reagan was predicated almost entirely on blaming Carter for things that weren't necessarily his fault. Your "national humiliation" talking point fails to consider the eventual successful outcome of the Iran crisis. This nothing to? do with Maddow.
