Respect on your receipt on drum solos...or not. My point is - to much show off. That is the challenge for guys like him, who got it all in the technical department. How then to convay a message with substance? You need inspiration, like good fellow musicians or be in 'the zone' by yourself. To me this was definately no such moment. Just? desperate blurting out impressive chops and ostinatos.

I ended up winning? it so i got him to actually autograph it on the inside shell and outside aswell as the case that it came in (Protetchtor cases). I believe if you can handle the moeller system and paradiddles,doubbles,trippels....u can do almost anything on the drumset.For sure is you need to be talented.And what we shouldn´t forget is that every drummer in his music category is good.Even it makes some easier,what does moeller technique bring for a metal drummer?

He did end it big, that was amazing. He was playing 4 different rhythms at the same tempo then as he was swinging on the ride he slowed it up then speed up the tempo while the main tempo with the base? snare and hi hate remained at the same. He wasn't even concentrating. A lot of the new generation drummers can't do that. Dennis is still king. The only drummer I believe could probably do that is Chris Coleman.

Mike Douglas was the coolest of the TV hosts at that time along with Dick Cavett - I used to watch both shows as a kid.. You have absolutely no idea how much I agree with you there man. Mike Portnoy has my absolute FAVORITE snare sound of all time. Particularly on the Train of Thought album. I intend on getting his 12 X 5 snare soon. The reason the snare on The Dark Eternal Night doesn't sound quite as tight is that he used his 14 X 4 snare? to record it as opposed to his 12 X 5.

Don't worry old bean, I forgive you! Music that compels body movement has soul. Music that is overly-notey, intellect-driven and tuneless has no soul. It's? a loose term. I think of it as the music I used to write for my band at university - soulless, obsessively intricate, show-offey - that is to be avoided! Listen to "I Don't Write Left-Handed" by Bill Withers. He defines soul over and over again in that tune. These musicians are spectacular, I want to make that clear. But the music is... meh.

I personally wouldn't go that far. I believe they play with soul and spirit,isn't that what music is about? I don't mind their sound but I see how they are attractive in that "technically sound"? sort of way, maybe a little generic. It's hard for me to criticize but I understand what you mean for sure. Their sound is corny sometimes. The only reason I know about them is because Chambers has worked with them, haha. My main focus here is Dennis.

Chambers is a beast and has been for a long time. Virgil Donati will prove that this is a very simple thing to do as he demonstrates doing it separately with both feet and then both together.

the use of two pedals was pioneered in the 30's by a jazz legend. So what if you want to play more notes with 2 feet? It was invented because it's cool; so cool even Dennis uses one. Don't judge it's use on metal drummers who don't practice enough, it's totally possible. At least the top metal drummers (ex. Derek Roddy) perfect their left foot far beyond? your conventional drummer.
