That piano riff was played by Carol King who wrote the song. It was originally recorded by Little Eva who did Locomotionin in '62 but King didn't like it so she turned the song over to the Tokens (The Lion Sleeps Tonight) and they produced it and The Chiffons recorded it? -- and the rest as they say, is history. It is a phenomenal recording and you never tire of hearing it.

Sure it's the same melody, but I think it'd be hard to say My Sweet Lord isn't the better song of the two on many levels. But yes the writers of He's So Fine do? deserve to share the royalties. But man it has got to suck to realize you've plagiarized someone unintentionally. Let's face it, Harrison certainly wasn't in desperate need of getting a melody from someone else.

A pop song like this shows up the pop songs on the radio now. This song has arrangements, harmonies, the instrumental in the middle is pop counterpoint between strings and woodwinds, the vocals after the instrumental add a "stay away from? him, stay away from him" part that hasn't been heard until after the instrumental. As a musician, I could go on. Suffice it to say this pop song puts today's pop songs to shame.

It's actually a demo. It's interesting to hear, but I was disappointed because I was expecting the version that was released. It just has Judy doing a run-through. At the bridge she actually stops and? a male voice (a producer?) comes in to finish it. Pretty odd. There's another track on that CD that's a demo version too - but not marked as such. I think it's Thumbs Down. Again, no back-up vocals.

There is another Chiffons version of this song that is much better IMO. This is NOT the classic version played on the radio back in the day. Listen to the real version and then make your judgement. This? version is ok but the real version is far superior.

Hate to burst everyone's bubble, but both used G-E-D, and then G-A-C-A-C (with the same grace note for explicitly the second phrase). Harrison and his musical expert was ready to admit their undeniable similarity, and the? court found him not guilty of intentional plagerism. They made allowances for it being a better song and Harrison's name selling power when making the settlement. I don't agree with the charges of 'unintentional plagerism', but since they exist, this was a pretty clear case.
