Also I do agree with you on the growth issue, China grows? because of tremendous export capabilities, this is fueled by low labour costs and hence creates a poor population. But this could be combated if commodity prices remained low, which I think is true in China.

But didn't Mao kick start the growth.? And to my knowledge China has not been edging towards Capitalism at all, maybe Socialism. Communism is good on paper but in practice it is not really pulled of that well, but in my opinion it is not a bad thing people who think it is oppressive and regressive are just following cold-war rhetoric.

The CCP is what has caused China to flourish, communism allows a much more effective and efficient use of resources and labour than capitalist would. Compare China's growth rates to the United States. Communism poses ethical issues but there is no doubt from an economic view it? is the only sustainable policy aside from a few others which I may not have complete knowledge of. Well that is my opinion at least, sustainable development should be the main target for all economies and countries.
