unless you've seen some already, i'd suggest watching films like: tattoo (as you'd guess), the social network, drive, tinker tailor soldier spy, there will be blood (my personal favourite so far this century), no country for old men, the assassination of jesse james, the? lives of others, brokeback mountain, zodiac, se7en (although it was 12 years ago), fight club, memento, munich and let the right one in, to name a few.

although i'd only watched one great film after watching advertisements for multiple shit movies, tattoo's greatness eclipsed it all. 2007 was a GREAT year for film as well. so? don't give up hope in modern cinema. just look past the attention-seeking transformers bullshit and find the gems and modern classics.

true, the great films made nowadays are sickeningly outnumbered by the bad ones, but, like i've said to someone else on this page, there are a few truly? great films made every year that show that sometimes they make em like they used to. again, there are many bad ones too. for example, when i went to the cinema to see the girl with the dragon tattoo, the movie trailers playing before the film nearly made me sick, but then i watched the film and LOVED it. that felt fucking great.

That last shot- "forget it jake, it's chinatown"- and then they walk away while all the little? chinese people are crowding the street and this? music's playing...gives me chills man. you'll never see an ending half as good or memorable for any movie that comes out today. chinatown's great, and jack nicholson's the man.

I have wrestled with this one over the years, but think color works for two reasons. (1) Cinematographer John Alonzo's genius with the color palette he chose of browns, blues and blood reds, and the bleached-out look he gives to the midday? scenes. (2) It's been said many times that CT turns film noir on its ear by having no rain and few night scenes, so color works for me on that score, too. Like many others, I've watched this close to 50 times; never tire of it.

Even if i was in kindergarden and this was my teacher I would wonder why he was? talking to me like I was a baby! He seems pre-occupied and very insincere. I think it represents the inner demons that affects everyone's lives and how they struggle to let sleeping dogs lie. It could also mean an alien situation beyond our control or understanding such as the tragic events in their past and the tragic conclusion to the story. Which i think? is most prevalent since Chinatown is definitely more a theme than an actual setting.

I retract my earlier remark. "A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH" is the best rock-n-roll comeback album ever made. From start to finish, the TRUTH is SiiiCK!!!, and everysong is perfectly placed for an enjoyable Van Halen music hour. Tattoo (Song #1) and Blood and Fire (Song? #5) included. Hands down, true fans will greatly enjoy this album on Vinyl!
