75% of what they once had in inventory is gone this year, silver is backwardated $1 15 months out, meaning you can sell silver now and? make $1 per oz plus get your silver 15 months from now if you believe it. LOL Clearly traders don't so why should you. I am surprised it gap is that large with interest rates so low and no one is willing to risk borrowing to buy silver and sell to earn a $1 per oz spread? That means the big money sees a default risk.

Yes, it is true you will pay taxes if you accept dollars for your gold. But legal tender coins traded for goods and services do not. The problem is all money originate from debt so someone some where will need dollars to pay debt. I understand how you look at it, you see the Walmart or some shopping center is not going to take you gold or silver coin. TRUE They are the biggest debtors. ? However your mom and pop shop may not be in debt and they are the ones you should support.

I guess what I am saying is that if you take advantage of a peak in silver prices, since timing is everything in terms of buying and selling commodities, you want to sell it before it drops again to get the most profit out of it. But when you sell it, you get dollars in return. Do you recommend just exchanging that value out for gold? And if you do, will you still have to pay taxes on it if you exchange? it for gold instead of dollars?

That is true however, the reason you sold it for $20,000 is because? the money is worthless and most people are poor because they saved in paper money. Thus we will see a deflation of prices when priced in gold and silver. You see I don't want silver and gold for dollars, I want it for what it will buy. The question that I have is if the dollar is going to collapse permanently this time, and silver goes up to $2000/ounce, would you want to cash it in for said profit? I believe that there is going to be a final fall of the dollar that will never recover and a new monetary system will be set up when the right people take the country back. Actually the default did happen on Dec 31 2008. As of that date you are no longer able to receive delivery on mini contracts on gold. And silver now has mini contracts that affect the price but you can not take delivery. ? So is that a default if you can't get what you purchase but you can get the cash? lol

That's cool money is for spending on things you want? as well as need. You may be kicking yourself a year from now as they may be going for half or less when priced in gold or silver. Stuff like that will dirt cheep when hyperinflation hits. But at least you get to enjoy it right now and that may be worth it to you.

My forecast for 2012: With silver being in short supply if the demand is strong enough with dealers and mints running out of silver stock then $50 silver will be surpassed with ease. It all depends to what extent the silver market can be manipulated. With the current state of the American economy? and the Eurozone I think we will see a much greater surge towards precious metals this year. Therefore my prediction is that Silver will easily exceed $50, possibly nearing $100 by the end of 2012

I'm poor myself. I? work hard, only have some money left at the end of the week, but buy some silver when I can. I don't have much, but what is important is not how much you have, but having it. Try to buy what you can afford; consider silver has a saving and not a get-rich quick scheme. Buy 1-2 oz. each month if you can't buy more. The only important thing is that if you buy you'll be in a better position than people who didn't... including your parents!

People do not realise that Carbon Dioxide (CO2, the greenhouse gas) is the basis for the new global commodity. While commodities? were traditionally tangibles, the "license to burn" will be the new precious thing created from nothing (secondary ones being Nitrogen from meat...). Everyone will pay high for there CO2 because the cost will be factored into everything. This is how they get around the silver/gold bugs: you cannot horde CO2 credits like you can precious metals ...Think about it.

Interesting, they are increasing margin requirements, but not position limits. This fits JP Morgan's deep pockets and implicit backing by the fed, while also allowing them to have HUGE positions. Contrast that? with the little guy whose margin requirements may hurt them, and don't have big positions anyway. Seems like a conspiracy to keep silver low, though in the end it won't matter. Just another chance to buy in before it goes to the moon.

If there is a large demand for deliveries the clients will be promptly paid off and asked to go do business directly with the miners. Problem is that they would just get their delivery in GLD shares for gold or SLV shares for silver. Also interesting is that JP Morgan and Deusche Bank own these EFTs. So, the same banks that are the biggest shorts on gold and silver, also run the gold and silver ETFs whose shares are used to cover the delivery for gold and silver contracts. So, the banks go short, and? if they get caught out, they cover the short with their crappy paper.

Silver is a good long term investment, I have loads, but I don't much believe it will hit even? $20 this year. Over the last couple of years I've seen it go up and down like a yoyo. I think ETF's are very risky but its all good until the comex / london along with goldman & other central banks lose control. The prices are seriously depressed. I read an article yesterday on kitco (dot) com, on the issuance of Silver blank rounds being suspended, due to a greater demand than supply. It appears that we are approaching sales, at least here in the states, that are nearing the 2008 total annual sales and it is only July. The mandate for the US mint is to furnish enough coinage to meet supply. This should do a number? on the market for Silver Eagles, at least in the near term. I was not aware of the COMEX revelation.
