In the 1986 recording "Southern Air" Ray mentions that the flight he's on is going from Hahira, Georgia to Yazoo City, Mississippi. The Yazoo connection was did by design because Jerry Clower? appeared on the recording as the pilot of the airplane. (Jerry lived in Yazoo City for decades). Ray plays the part of the passenger and Minnie Pearl is the stewardess. You can find that song on You Tube.

I remember listening to Ray Stevens when I was younger and I always loved his stuff. Shrine is considered the playground of Masonry. Blue Lodge takes a pledge against intemperance, etc, but an unusually visible minority among the Shriners seem to have forgotten they are Freemasons. Most of us really DO strive to be pillars of the community, hokey as it sounds. BTW, yes, I AM a Shriner (which also means I am a Mason). This movie is also where this "Shriner's Convention" music video comes from. The writer of "Dudley Dorite", Buddy Kalb, plays the character in the movie. Of course, as of now, Ray hasn't uploaded the "Dudley Dorite" video onto You Tube...but check eBay for copies of GET SERIOUS if you want to see the official music video of that song.

@20lbsledge: I first heard this song when I was a kid as well. My grandfather had a couple of Ray Stevens cassette tapes. One of them was "Greatest Hits" on the MCA label in 1987 and this song was track two on the album. It's origins go back to late 1979...it was a single very? early in 1980...his debut on the RCA label. The single reached the country Top-10 as did the album of the same name. Thanks to my grandparent's I became aware of Ray Stevens and am a huge fan of his.

True, "Vigil in a wilderness of mirrors" is a great album but nothing in comparison to the music Marillion has produced since Fish left and H arrived! And it's also true that they haven't had hits but this is due to the fact that they didn't bend down to for the huge producers or press! But they created master pieces!!!! It's a fact! They did their thing with? help from no one but their fans and friends, and this is admirable!!! Marrilion = Best band in the world

the first solo album fish did 'visual in a wilderness of mirrors' was orsome. it stands up with any of the earlier stuff!! they wanted some cheesy tart lookin rock singer to front the band and chase the hits and thats? what they got!! oh!! but no hits!! lol!!

God! I would love to see this song performed live, in the flesh - talk about goosebumps! What a beautiful piece of music, played with such emotion. And Steve Rothery - brilliant guitar playing throughout - all the right notes, light and shade, great vibrato and awesome tone - this is a performance ALL guitarists should watch to demonstrate how it's done! I disagree. Fish has released many highly memorable albums. Also, I have seen him live which was very memorable. Except for Rothery, Marillion has nothing left. Hogarth only has a few songs that can be? considered as progressive rock. Marillion's face is almost completely gone.
