You can tell this is a big number, too, since official Labor Force Participation Rate stands around 60% (30 yr lows). Including underemployment, real unemployment is likely ~20-25%. Even so, 10% official unemployment is bad at the nadir of a recession, but 8+% is worse when labeled a recovery.

You know.....you're actually right. I looked into it a bit more and on the createjobsforUSA website it said that it was a loan to companies (paraphrased of course). This implies interest on the loan so in a sense you're right. I do believe that it is still beneficial to small businesses trying to get off the ground because they need capital and can't supply it all themselves.? And the interest on the loan is something that the business can cover in the long run.

@zxThisGuyxz the problem I have as a small business owner is that this money is being loaned back out to? people with interest which means that $35 is going to cost the business exponentially over the course of the loan. The other issue is that Starbucks is posing their campaign as a "Charity" not what it really is which is an investment - I think it's deceiving the public.

The whole idea of "Lets let? the government invest our money to create jobs" is a little off though. It's better to let real investors (the rich) create jobs... they're a lot better than the FED.

He was a visionary guy, but just look all the way back at the earliest interactions between him and Woz. One of the earliest business ventures between the 2 of them involved him screwing Woz for 95% of the money made on circuit boards Woz did all the the work to make. i think you need to look back over most of the early footage the world? has about him. Not saying it ws some kind of sin, but what drove almost everything Steve Jobs did was the drive to make money. The niche he was trying to fill with the Next machines was carefully thought out to be a sure win money wise... didn't work out that way, but the entire reason he went after the education market in colleges was because he was certain they were a sure sell. Look at other footage, its pretty clear.

Didnt say anything was wrong with it. Just responding to ppl who laud him for his "designs". He was revolutionary, and accomplished a lot. But what most ppl remember him? for or as aren't very much in line with what he was truly about. The closed approach does work, and in fact, contrary to popular notion, ppl are happier with less choice, not more. So, maybe it came off as critical because I found it ironic that he threw out "IBM had its day", and who proved that alone he was a failure.

Steve was interested in coming up with ways to make money. Locking people into products that limited their choice. Why? Because it made more money. Marketting the idea that you need to have what he "designed", when he didn't design most of what Mac sells, lol. The Ipad was bought by a Chinese company. The iphone was designed by an employee.
