It seems that you misinterpreted me or only focused on one thing I said. I know many Nam vets and I respect them as much as I have always respected and supported most military personnel. If you? look at everything in my previous posts you'll see that I'm pretty level-headed, self-honest and upbeat about most things. (At least I'd like to think so) I also indicate that EVERYTHING in life, past and present, (Korea, 50s, "red scare" and Viet Nam included) has it's 'positive' and 'negative' aspects.

Keep in mind the vast majority of those who served in 'Nam were VOLUNTEERS, and most say they would do it over again if given the chance. In the Fabulous Fifties, anti-communism united Americans against Sovietism? and the Reds, but in the 60's the Radicals did everything to divide America, making it a sad and turbulent decade.

I understand where you're coming from; If I was a teen in the 50s I probably would have been drafted to go to Nam and that would not have been my cup of tea. But between Korea and Viet Nam, (the draft for the latter didn't? go into effect until the 60s), were some pretty good times. Sure, there was the red scare, etc. but EVERY era of time, indeed, every area of LIFE has it's 'negative' aspects...it's a given. I just felt your reaction was notably extreme for the circumstances.
