i think the best thing is? to explain to the stranger that your friend is autistic and attempt to get your friends attention on something other then the stranger its no good trying to physically remove his hands from the stranger though, it only agitates him, most likely making him hold on longer, as his mind will be too filled with all the input (the stranger, yourself/other friends/the enviroment, etc.)

Thanks for the comments. I am doing much better now.? I was just very inpatient and scared at the time of my accident. I won't lie to you. I'm not 100%. I'll never be 100% ever again, but I'm at least 70% of my old self. No more playing basletball. No more running, but I can do other things. I'm limping around now with a cain, but I'm very happy I came this far. Now I fear the snow. I'll have to be extra careful this winter.

And a physical disability just does not slow you down physically, it impairs your fiances, and hurts you emotionally. I did everything my doctors advised. I am better now, but I still relapse. It got so bad at times I was screaming in severe agony--the likes? of someone in hellfire. I do get better, but I'm not 100%. I get inpatient with the healing process. I will be seeing my primary care doctor next week, and I'll explain how it has effected me.

I'm sure that most of us reading want you to find support and the comforts, someplace, that you deserve - keep trying. Many of us also have felt similarly sometimes, healing takes a long time. One thing your comment does so well is to illustrate that most people are "temporarily" able, and disability comes in many forms, at any age, sometimes on top of very limited resources. Perhaps a local nurse will understand and try to? find patience and more resources for you.

:-( I can really understand what people with disabilities gpo through on a daily basis. Several months ago, I severed my left? leg in a freak home accident, and now I'm in severe pain even after the surgery and metal screws. I'm not strong enough to do this on my own. HI. prospective employees are not usually sponsored and it is extra difficult if you have not have previous mining experience. Of course you would argue (as I did) that 'how do I get the experience with a getting a job' Naive people can say you have? to suck up to someone to be noticed, but how does that make sense when you would have to be given a chance in the first place in order to be in a position to suck up to anyone.

Your quite right. trouble is getting someones mouth and eyes to notice you exist and that you have the ability, potential or otherwize, to do the job. One good way to crack it, is to locate the companies which are usualy contractors, who are conducting civil works on a minesite. In this way you often get to operate the very same type of equipment that you have had experience on, ie articulated dump trucks. I have done this myself and know many who? have succeeded this way. From my personal experience,? DO NOT bother fucking around and wasting time with the labour hire recruitment agencies. They tend to be closed minded and operate within the box as far as sifting through numerous job applications, and only seek the 'perfect' candidates who match the job. Afterward they collect their tab and don't give a shit. Alot of people I know are employed in the dump truck/unskilled jobs at the mine tend to get it through internal networking and general word of mouth.

I've? been to one of his seminars (in Sydney, mid-2008). He's a nice guy. Much more upbeat about the prospect of 'getting in' that some of the people who attend and who have experienced a lot of knockbacks from the employers.

That is the way it goes if you graduate with something that really has little demand or if you want to teach at that level. You don't automatically get paid just because you get your masters or doctorate. If there is no market there is no pay. I am a forensic psych. Not many people do that and there is? demand. I had an unpaid internship but did very well after that outside of the school setting. You must look at your marketability before you spend 10 yrs and thousands getting a degree.
