no, it would encourage savings and under consumption. High interest rates? would encourage investing and underconsumption would create capital to reinvest and increase production the way we did in the 17th century. The US in the 1800's borrowed alot of money worldwide but unlike today that money went into investing in factories and production. We need savings for capital not liquidity that the Fed loans out for 1% interest to fuel bubbles and prop up failing crony companies
