I'm not here to preach on what "real art" is I'm just here to say that The Fall simply wasn't one that personally touched me on any level. I'm not here to try and insult those who like it, because for them clearly it works. I've watched The Fall twice: once blind and the? second after digesting the first view. It still simply didn't do it for me. If you like it no offense intended. I know I love plenty of films that others hate.

Cinematography is top notch...movie was...Meh. I watch lots of art movies and this movie just didn't do anything for me. It? felt too self aware that it was an art movie. Like it was saying "I'M SO DEEP! DECODE ME!" I agree that the Fall have better covers (i.e. all the Monks covers). On the other hand, the original version of this song was so damn good that I think it was best not to stray too far from it, plus it fits the Fall aesthetic without any tweaking. Doc &Illangelo did the rest of HOB and Thursday together. Illangelo only did Echoes by himself (except for Initiation which was DropxLife). Im a Freshman in college now, and it seems like only yesterday that i was on? the field for a Friday night Game. All i can say is it goes by in a second and you don't want to regret anything. Skipping practices at points or just not playing your heart out may seem fine while your there, but after it's all over you would give anything to take it all back. You know... I? will agree with some things @geocool has to say. I don't think music shaped any culture. I think culture shapes music. The Big Band era died because of WW2. As polka and other european musicians traveled to america when it was first discovered, they brought thier talents that helped to for some of what American music will come to be. The History of the blues (which can be argued is one predecessor of jazz) is IN FACT started from field hollers during the days of slavery.

I'm sure baseball players think the world revolves? around them and opera singers too, etc. and I guess jazz people too. From the outside jazz is popular music, nothing more. It didn't shape America or anything like it. America and Europe shaped jazz. American and European metallurgy and instruments. For some reason Americans think they invented music or emotion while singing. I've seen fado in Portugal and listened to singers in Egypt that says otherwise.

I understand this song more than you give credit for. I just hear it in a different way. As I'm sure we all do. I'm not going to give you a medal for beating addiction.
