Actually, bitcoins are something totally different. They are not sanctioned or sponsored by the government, but are typically used because they provide more anonymous trading and usually for blackmarket? items (as he mentioned, marijuana and such). It is an alternative to government money of any nation and more of an independent world currency. It will likely be regulated or stopped in the future if it starts competing with our monopoly money.

The Board of Governors (BoG) is not the actual bank with the balance sheet. It does not owe anybody anything and nobody owes it anything. There is no one "Fed Bank".? The "Fed Bank" consists of the 12 regional banks, which are private. The regional banks are the entities responsible for the bail outs. It does not make sense to talk about liquidating the BoG, as it has no assets and no liabilities. I am with you on your sentiment, but we need to be accurate in our understanding.

It also states "The seven-member Board of Governors (BoG) is a federal agency." FYI, our money is constantly inflating because the government is basically borrowing money from itself. The value of the dollar has been decreasing at an average of 3% per year. Like many others, I love Doc? Paul, but I've never been a big fan of gold. However, I will acknowledge that, compared to the other precious metals, it's relative LACK of usefulness coupled with it's rarity makes it a much more reasonable medium for exchange than unreliable pieces of paper. For the most part, you can test gold on your own. No forged certs, data routed to a fake third-party "surety," etc. If someone squirrels theirs away, the value increases for everyone else's (too).

The fed has it's hands in many pots most of which are hush hush behind closed doors arrangements that they are? not willing to disclose. Save your time and instead cancel your Direct Deposit and get a paper check, endorse it the proper way to get "lawful money" and photocopy it for your records. The Fed nor the treasury do not issue USN's or Silver Cert's anymore. Even if you do get in the front door all they will give you in? return for your $1 FRN is another $1 FRN.
