Would love to believe this entirely, but I suspect the real nature of the reasons is far more complicated. US started to move away from gold long before 1971, and what precipitated the final 1971 full fiat switch was France wanting to cash in huge amounts of greenbacks for the gold equivalent. How could all of the world's nations afforded WWII with a strict gold standard? (I realize some may argue? WWII wouldn't have come about without WWI, so the argument of the video comes into play)

Gold is mined so? people who mine gold are creating money out of earth rather than thin air. The same is true for silver and the money stones of Yap island. Gold IS consumed, as are all precious metals, in the electronics industry. The big mining companies horde gold off the market to prevent over supply just as the diamond industry does.

Okay, if you're on the whole gold as currency thing, because it's a precious metal, then why not silver? Intuitively, I know that going "gold", I'm also being scammed. We are on the same side in this respect. Our disagreement lies in whether or not a gold (or any non-fiat) standard would make corruption more difficult. I find it evident, while you disagree. You can't print gold. You can print fiat. Ergo, gold is a more reliable as a store of value. That was easy. Only scarce commodities can reliably store value. Gold is not consumed, so there is limited risk (as? I mentioned in the video) of oversupply. Paper (properly tricked out to discourage counterfeiting) is better as a medium of exchange (more liquid). Gersham's Law would indicate that gold would be used for savings and major transactions, paper for common transactions.

(see wikipedia). he predicted the? anti christ would come in 1988 since israel was founded in 1948. he then wrote a second book reinforcing his predictions. he also made a movie...since he was wrong i think he should have given the profits to a charity.
