I love Garmin Nuvi!!! It was awful when I had to called the police when my car got stolen. The thief robbed my GPS where I left it in the car (they probably knew the GPS was in the car because they saw the mount.) Luckily the cops found my car but my GPS was gone!!! I hope those motherfucking bastards receive a horrible death. Anyway, today on 3/30/12 I just orderd a Garmin Nuvi 1490T. I'm so pleased. Using a cell phone GPS is the worst thing? ever. I just prefer Garmin Nuvi products.

You know what? FUCK GARMIN. Fucking assholes. You know why? They had a great piece of kit with the 880 in 2008. It had voice recognition, MP3 player, bluetooth. Those things are ideal for a biker who can play music and navigate, hands free. Garmin? know this, so they took the MP3 player away on every model they've made since and discontinued this great GPS. Now if you want MP3 you have to by the bike specific one at an extortionate price. Fucking greedy ass mother fuckers can suck my dick.

You can't make POIs visible on nuvis. I? think you can if you load a custom POI file though. Most vs. normal affects the zoom level at which smaller streets show. Hope this helps!

I have 2 questions and I hope you can answer it for me: 1) Is it possible? to make the map show gas station/restaurants/park/etc instead of going into POI? I believed Magellan has it automatically. If it the map shows gas station while I am driving, it reminds me to fill up just in case the next gas station is 50 miles away. 2) What is the different between "Most" and "Normal" in map detail? good thing about GARMIN is that it takes you to places with a better, faster route. MAGELLAN makes you drive the lone,scenic routes.For example I own a GARMIN and my aunt owns a MAGELLAN. we were on our way to a water park and it had her going all? sorts of ways and said she would get there in 25minutes when mine had us taking better routes and said only about 10 minutes. But if you want Magellan go for it.

on GARbage 250W Try to search in " point of interests" .. it will prompt a screen where you type what you look for. Well, on my "GARbage" i have 2 letters F and no G. So it's basically A B C D E F F. When? i emaile them, they said it's an easy fix, all i have to do buy a USB cable, ( i have to buy it !!) and download a new software or whatever...REALLY..? There was no apologies, nor an offer to send back for a repair... GARMIN SUCCKS !!!! I am going for MAGELLAN !

Mine usually picks it up within 5 seconds if you turn the? wrong direction. Sometimes it takes a bit longer if you have taken the wrong exit on a motorway (because you're often still pretty close to the correct route).

Great video, looks like a nifty device. Some comparisons? to my nuvi 660: the 1390 seems to have a more sensitive touch screen and quicker response. Also, the 660 requires the car charger to attach to the ball mount, which I usually forget at home, making it impossible to charge (my wife doesn't like it when I mount the 660 on the window). Nice quick mounting in the car, good job, one handed even.

Hold down your Battery icon for about 10 seconds, you should access a diagnostics screen which displays the current temperature (probably of the CPU thermal sensor diode - how hot the board is under the CPU) in Celsius. Also, if you hold down the sattelite signal bars for 5? or so seconds, you'll get another secret screen plotting satellites you are recieving and estimated accuracy and elevation information.

Dunno, I'm seeing lots of Garmins all over Ebay with broken touch screens for sale. And watching the video on here, how to replace the batttery in these things, its an unnecessarily involved process. And? I don't really see the insane price premium for a motorcycle unit being justified at all. So as far as I'm concerned, the Garmin is not shining all that brightly. When they can get this unit down to $40 available in your local Walmart, then we'll talk.

Others may be able to answer this better than I at this point. There were two models of Zumo when we did this review - though few even knew that. I believe their is a lower grade model of the Zumo 550 - you don't want that. You want the full blown Zumo 550 kit. I can't remember the details, but the lower model is not what you? want or what is tested here. MVR

MVR Response: We've been asked why we don't like the 660. Trust me, if you buy one you will be sorry as compared to the Zumo 550 which is pretty darn great! We don't want to just slam Garmin here. We have hours of? test video on this. The mount isn't secure and you can easily touch the wrong area and loose your GPS. I didn't ask for wide screen and don't like it on a bike. Many of the functions changed - they were perfect on the 550. I have a long list, somewhere, we gave Garmin. We like Garmin.

We tested a pre-production version of the 660 and gave it back. We provided a? full page of what we hated about it. They went the wrong direction and ruined it for motorcycling - don't buy it! (just our opinion after riding thousands of miles with it). The Zumo 550 is awesome - don't hesitate - buy it! It's that good. MVR

It's easy if you have ridden and tested bikes your entire life. Lots of thought goes into it before we shoot video. Yes. many couldn't do it, but it's all real time! Now, this is impossible: How can you ride a bike, control the GPS, think about what to tell, all at the SAME time?! Amazing. Nice review. I just find that missing a temperature? sensor is pointless. It is a GPS, not a universal everything. Buy a BMW and you get a temperatur sensor. ;-)

It is so bad for motorcycling that it get's our blood boiling to even think about it. We spent a lot of? money and two trips testing the unit. We made Garmin fully aware of our concerns with the unit, starting with a mount that the unit will fall out of if you just brush your hand by the unlock mech. Unlike the perfect mount of the 550. Nice review! I just bought one at Sportsman's warehouse and am looking forward to playing around with it tomorrow while walking downtown. It's totally cool with having as many features as it has and I especially like that it has a great backlight and that it has a clock that I would guess is coming from a nuclear clock via satellites, thus providing super-accurate time. My reason mainly is to use it while prospecting? with a metal detector. With it's tracking feature is should be great fun!

thankyou so much for this vid, it really helps. mate got it for walking the pennine way but to be honest its not what we were looking for. The only one critisum about this vid is that you had the mic to close to you and you can here your self sollowing which made me cringe a little and? anoying. i owned a timex speed + distance for many years and loved it. I wanted a watch without the armband attachment that was not over $400 like the suunto and casio. HI there. I have one of these GPS's and when i add new adresses to the route, it just calculates or i should say chosses the adress to go to according to which adress i put. It doesnt calculate the closest first or vice verser, what ever i put it and when is how it calculates it. How? can i actually do this, how can i make the gps automatically calculate the distance of each adress and adjust its self according to that? Appreciate it.

I had that phone and i hate it,the touch screen stop working after 2 months and a lot of applications of android market doesnt working whith this phone. the gps worked partially he is? not update. The keyboard work slowly and the letters are pretty small. I was disappointed because it is a cool phone :(

by the way... in 2011 - the browser does support the pinch - multi touch feature... and as he showed it does that in the maps view and photos as well... the screen is not as vivid as the htc desire hd is but its good enough for you to see and you only? notice that when you compare it to the htc otherwise its no biggie...

Shut up, i own one and it works just as good as my HTC Desire HD and as my IPhone 3gs... and its cheaper then them. the GPS maps are fantastic and it also tells me where the speed cameras are and where its cheaper to buy petrol for the 1st 12 months its free... the maps are updated for free? forever... after my iphone was stolen i have decided against ever again spending more then 500$ on a phone... its just not worth it
