As for your first comment, software uses hardware to create a sound, therefore the computer is creating the sound. Even though wiki is not totally reliable I think there is a lot that can be said about what common consensus is from it, especially on something that is opinion like the definition of what an instrument is. If the midi table is? hardwired into the individual keys of the controller it is still midi but there is as much software as there is in a digital watch.

Not really. Keyboards and other midi instruments are still just controllers that translate sounds produced by software. And as for a wiki page saying something is fact, there's a reason you can't use wikipedia as a reference for anything that needs to have accurate information. That's not my point though. I'm only saying that the software is the heart of the instrument and the controller isn't, so any controller is the same as any other controller? with just a slightly different setup.

I think you could make a pretty good argument saying that midi instruments count as instruments. I think your point is that only instruments that create analog sounds are instruments. Often, midi instruments rely on the computer to create a sound. The sound is created in the computer's hardware using its oscillators thus producing its own sound, not the recording of an analog instr. Would you change your mind if the midi pack was in? the controller, there by producing its own electronic sounds?

I would definitely get this thing as it seems to be an excellent MIDI controller but... no linux support :'-( And guys stop saying this is shit, that's just not made to replace guitars, it's? a kind of guitar shaped keyboard and a very nice evolution of the keytar concept (maybe easier to play for guitar players though). Play these on good quality speakers, they really do sound good. If you want info on how to make something like this or just the paddles, read the comments. I have already explained.
