For me the Jam were the only band who "got" what punk was about. They didn't feel the need to get their hair cut and rip their clothes when the Sex Pistols arrived? (like the Clash did, who basically just imitated what the Pistols were doing) so for me the two most original British bands from that era were the Pistols and the Jam.

This must come from their final? tour of Japan, mid-1982. It was burn out time for Weller after this and The Jam broke up soon. A friend of mine once said that no good record, except 'Fools Gold' by the Stone Roses, has ever been made since December 1982 and the break-up of The Jam. He is wrong of course, but the fact he even said it, shows what a great band The Jam were.

A buddy of mine named Mark turned me onto the MC5 in the 80's when we played together in the Hangin' Party. I just now discovered this video and it TOTALLY ROCKS!!! I don't know why these guys didn't play at Woodstock. This show absolutely holds it's own as a history making, 60's moment. I can't get the MC5 out of my head. I'm here because this is? a great band. Paul Weller is an ornement to the music industry. The Jam had such a ferocious sound, although I'd almost call it more of a mod sound than punk, but either way they are a land mark in music history. Its great to watch them here on you tube instead of having to suffer through todays music and the path it has gone down, with the exception of a few talented acts scattered around the world.

95% of people are pretty clueless and the main reason is because their life experiences are not very deep. They've got no roots in much of anything other than X-Box and chasing the girl, money and the materialism the Corps have indoctrinated them? with.
