McGraw may have indeed been biased but it is probably? not fair to say he didn't play him simply because he was Indian. The Giants were a loaded team at and one of the best teams in baseball. In truth McGraw did not need Thorpe. Both had very strong personalities and never got along. Thorpe would have been better to sign with another team.

where do you come up with that?? I have family in Jim Thorpe, allentown, and in Lehighton area.. I go there alot to visit and I'm from a lil town around Cincinnati Ohio. Some Locals don't like it, specailly in the summer it can be hell cause its crowded, specially during the asa packer and train rides, but majority of the people are nice as can be from there. Sounds like someone needs a time out and point their nose in? the corner till they get a better additude....

I agree. I was born in the area and moved away when I was 17. I visit often but find the locals, in many cases, to be? be bitter and jealous of anyone else's success. The town was dead in the 1950s but came back when outsiders invested money in the town. The jealousy and bitterness exists throughout the area because those that stayed behind, except for local professionals, made very little money in dead end jobs, which is not entirely their fault. .

You can get to Jim Thorpe without worrys of parking and summer traffic jams on Mountain roads. Blue Mountain and Reading railroad runs special trains from time to time from the Scranton area, or? With Amtrak trains running sold out today, and gas not 15 cents agallon like when the Lehigh Valley Railroad quit. It would make sense to bring back direct Service to NY and Philly.? ohh! The 425 steam loco is a 4-6-2 pacific built by Baldwin for the Central of Georgia I believe. It was geared and designed to run in less hilly terrain than that of NE Pennsylvania. Therefore the SD 50 is there for 2 reasons first to assist the 425 in climbing grades and secondly in case the 425 quits running for any mechanical reason. I do wish it did not have to be there it ruins a pure steam locomotive video shot. Take care? Steve ohh I mean JIM! LOL

Blue Mountain and Reading sometimes runs special trains from the Scranton area. But the answer to Jim Thorpe's traffic jams is direct Amtrak service to? NY and Philly. Gas is not 20 cents a gallon like when the Lehigh Valley quit. Amtrak is very popular and many routes run sold out. With Tilt train equipment to take those old curves at higher speed it would be a popular route. Tracks are still in all the way to Ithaca, there can be connections to Scranton too!

Great video, it would have been great to see the falls. Mauch Chunk is a? beautiful town in all seasons. Jim Thorpe's tomb and area around it give credit to the man which for some time had been long overdue. Thank you To Jim's family for helping to revitalize this town.
