Nope. The reason is, that dealers don't have access to spare gold nibs, or really parts of any kind of Lamy. You'll need to go through Lamy USA (or? the distributor in whatever country you're in, if it's not the US).

Both pens are a little heavy, but the m800 is longer so the weight seems more back weighted if its posted. The m800 is a comfortable pen for my large? hands, that I will admit. The L2k is not quite as big in diameter but it's not too small either. In all honesty, I would really classify the two pens in two different categories, if not for price alone. You're looking at a list of $175 for the L2k and $575 for the m800...

It's a different pen altogether, especially since my Pelikan has? an italic nib. Dollar for dollar though, I'd take the L2k over the m800. The L2k just feels so solid and durable, I always handle my Pelikan with kid gloves. And while I'm fine with that, I'm also not the gentlest person so I like having a pen I can feel like I can put on the table without using two hands, y'know?

The same way I just? did, but you can pull the converter off the back too if you want. Either way works, but if you're pulling off the converter and filling that, you'll need to force some ink down the pen after you put the converter back on, to get the ink moving. When you fill through the pen, the feed will already be primed, but when filling just the converter, you'll need to prime the feed manually. Make sense?

what nib size do you have, what ink are you using, and what paper are you using? I definitely recommend flushing any fountain pen before using it the first time. If you're still having skipping issues? after the flush, it could be a whole variety of reasons. Shoot me an email if you'd like to chat about it more.

I hold a paper towel to? the open end and shake the converter. That gets almost all of it. Whatever's left just gets mixed in with the ink I'm using, it doesn't hurt it. Ink is water-based anyway, so it just dilutes my next converter fill by at most 1% or so.

best pen was, is and will be the ball point pen. Ink cartridges last 50 time more than water based inks. Ballpoint pen ink is also water resistant. Water based inks which are in gel, rollerball or fountain pens are washed away or blurred if they get damp. Ball points write equally well on all surfaces. Fountain and fibre tip pens need good quality smooth paper to have a nice writing experience - otherwise? the drag is huge and it's horrible - try it.

Some good tips here, and no, I'm not going to criticize your use of the bowl for ink-refilling :) Just wanted to mention that the Lamy ink bottles are very likely to *not* tip over, due to their wide base. Nice to see you using a different brand of ink though; as much as I? love the Lamy Blue ink, there are far more choices available in Private Reserve ink, Noodler's ink, Diamine ink, etc.

For me, what I do is that I simply put the nib into the bottle directly and fill just like that. Pens with a built-in filling? system have to be filled this way. However, I have also seen pens that use a converter, that can only be filled in the way shown in the video. Different pens can be filled in different ways, I guess. I have a little Kaweco Sport that I made into an eyedropper pen so that it can store a ludicrous amount of ink.

While I do prefer converters, they have? the flaw that they hold much less ink than their cartridge counterparts. I have a Namiki Falcon, with a lovely soft broad nib, but the converter is so small, it's pathetic for a luxury item like it. Instead, I refill with an eyedropper into an empty cartridge. Holds a lot more ink, but is annoying in the long run.

Ah, yes, I have built up INSANE callouses from my Alvin, I hardly notice it, although after about 7 years of use I wore down the diamond plate grip, still grippy just without the harshness. I just replaced the grip today, as after many drops the sleeve was knocked out of use, so I imagine I will be feeling the same grip pain for a while now until i wear it down again. ?

I was really surprised that you don't own an Alvin Draft/Matic. available in? 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 (mine), and 0.9 with different color barrels for each color. It's my workhorse pencil (math teacher) with a Pentel Graph Gear 500 as back-up. Although my graph gear has a removable pen cap with eraser underneath. Dissimilar from yours, it also has a fixed length sleeve for drafting.

I don't know offhand about the specifics, but I can tell you what I can think of right now. If you want the GG500, JetPens is probably your best bet. You'll probably find the Zebra? in Office Depot or Max, or maybe Staples. The Staedtler and Mephisto I would look for online, or at an art store like Blick.

I also enjoy the L2K a great deal. Be careful when you take the nib assembly out for cleaning, as to not lose the rubber o-ring or detent rings. Also interesting is that the nib/feed design dates back well into the 1950s. So, you can swap nibs back and forth with the L99 and related pens of that era... L27, etc. The current nib is Paladium plated and? gorgeous. But, those early nibs are a bit more soft and have nice personality. Mine has an L99 stubby medium. Thanks kindly.

Does your nib "sing" too? ? mine creates spatter patterns when making a fast horizontal stroke, but not noticeable in everyday writing.

I understand why you like the clip... looks great! nice pen indeed despite I'm? not a fan of that style of nib. what I really like about this one, is how easy it can be cleaned! I have a LAMY AL-Star and boy sometimes it's a pain to clean it.. screw-unscrew-screw-unscrew-screw... it takes a while to get fully cleaned... anyway, as always a great video from you Steven thank you! Interesting,? I have a Safari and a Lamy I am thinking of turning one of them into an eyedropper. I like the eyedropper design for its simplicity and large capacity.

Yeah, I think my fountain pen will appreciate being treated a bit nicer than that.. I don't mind if my converter runs out of ink? in a small period of time; it is very easy to just dip in in ink, and suck it up. Not much mess at all.

--I made it with slow cure 2 part epoxy. I put scotch tape over the? holes on the barrel on the inside - and then poured a little drop on the outside of the barrel in the hole. the scotch tape on the inside of the barrel kept the glue in place. I did one in one day, the other the next day. The hole on the end of the barrel was easy to seal by just shoving the epoxy down in it.

...you should be fine with that? amount of ink behind an EF nib. Not a bad idea to leave water, but it won't necessarily make it smoother. It depends on the ink. It may just wash the ink out and make it duller. Unless you use something like some of the Noodler's inks, water might not be the best idea. After I wash a pen out, I shake it like an old mercury thermometer to get the last bits of water out. Then I fill with ink.

hmm, I've just went and bought a safari and converter, it's an EF, so i hope it doesn't intend run? out of ink every other week = / i intend to incorporate it into everyday use(school/notes) i'm curious, is it bad or does it help to leave a little water behind when refilling? i guess perhaps to make it smoother/wetter?

... yeah, but the converter runs out of ink so? quickly, especially with such a wet writing B nib like this one I modified. Oh, and I hacked the feed too, to make it even wetter. Having so much ink just made sense. I have since gifted/traded the pen to a very nice gentleman from India, though, so I no longer have a Safari. I gotta tell ya, it's been tempting to get another, but I'd rather get another Lamy Studio with a B nib to compliment the F that I already have.

look for a dive shop in your community and get the one ounce tub thing. the little tube ran out QUICK. ? and it was more expensive than the one ounce tub. a dive shop should have it, or a good plumbing supply store. good luck.
