The Russians had to take some heavier pieces. The orbit where the ISS was built benefited the Russian launch site and not KSC. The? shuttle had to fly an 57 degree inclination to the ISS that reduced its capacity to carry items to that orbit. It had to be an orbit where both countries could reach. What the shuttle carried was not that much lighter. The shuttle has carried 59,000lb payloads into certain orbits.

It only needs enough to get away from Earth's gravity and push it towards the moon. Issac? Newton does the rest. Once they are up there they only operate the engines for at most a few minutes at a time. Another way to look at it is that they never left Earth orbit. It was just a REALLY egg shaped orbit that went all the way around the Moon.

I was onboard this flight. When everybody ran to the right side of the plane to see the shuttle, all the weight of everybody shifted the plane to tip over at a 30? degree angle. The pilot then told half of the passengers to get on the left side of plane quickly. By doing this the plane then was properly balanced and then then everybody got free Root Beer drinks and the space shuttle, North Star flew off into space and was Lost in Space and never heard from again. We proved re-usability, but we also? learned about its huge impracticality by the 3rd launch. It never came remotely came close to its promised $50million p/launch cost. It was 1.5 billion. I happen to own Crysis 2, and Sims 3 and the Late Night expansion pack. My point was that just because the trailer makes it look good doesn't necessarily mean it IS. EA is like that. I know this from past experience. I bought Crysis 2 after watching OMFGcata play-through the campaign and I've seen my best friend play Sims 3 a lot. Alice:? Madness Returns is so underrated. The scores people gave it did not do this game justice. If you listen in the video, he says 8 N motors and one central P motor. All made by Loki Research. To buy the N motors you must be level 3 certified by either NAR or Tripoli Rocketry Association. The tower it was launched from was? also built by Steve Eves. Of course you have to have government permission. You must have a waiver from the FAA to fly anything high power. As for the "shot a nuke" aspect, please take that kind of talk away from this hobby. For more info, educate yourself

Possibly one of the most underrated games thats ever came out. I absolutely loved the intense atmosphere and superb game mechanics that changed the game from your average first person shooter to a survival horror? game where every bullet counted. The game made me feel like I had just finished a truly epic journey that took me from the dark underground to the bright and empty expanse of burned buildings filled with mutated beings that live in the toxic atmosphere. I wish I had been there ... hope we'll get back to the moon soon...when I have people watch them they won't deny they are real? but get nothing but blank stares and not one "wow how did they do that", try to tell them what powerful machine a Saturn 5 is but they switch subject, rocket science gave us much of the technology we take for granted today and tools that save lives...this is apparently a side issue but one few know about...thanx for the view!!! mediamauro

Well, I ask because another person I know doesn't believe that the Apollo missions were real. I thought he believed that nothing happened. After asking him "what part do you? believe is a hoax" I finally discovered that he believed Apollo went into earth orbit, but never left. I asked him why he felt they never left orbit and he came up with baloney about Apollo being a "cover" for "mind control with radio waves" whereupon I said "yeah OK" and dropped the whole thing.

Yes,? I know all about the GG exhaust ducted into the nozzle extension. I was talking about the great big plume of fire in the exhaust trail, not the transition from dark exhaust immediately below the nozzle to burning exhaust. Kerolox engines burn fuel rich, regardless of engine cycle. Look at the RD-180, it also has a bright exhaust plume and even a similar non-burning exhaust section (though much, much shorter) due to regen cooled nozzle, even though there is no turbopump exhaust ducted.

Speaking of your comment, I think that the fact that the 747 and Saturn V came into being about the same time more than proves we were able to go to the moon...the 747 represented every bit as large of a step in commercial aviation as the Saturn V and going to the moon in rocket science. The fact? we got from the Wright Brothers to the 747 in a mere 70 years defies belief.

Have we ever heard ONE piece of crosstalk? Ever? In all? of Apollo? Why? wouldn't they have a loop that included Aldrin/Armstrong below and Collins above? Too complicated to keep the thing clean. The Apollo Missions are essentially recordings with the CapComs breaking in by way of Quindars, and when they do, their voices are protected from the tape's predetermined soundtrack. Of course the CapComs have practiced their lines over and over and over watching the Apollo Mission tapes.?

I unraveled the mystery of the Quindar tones today. Here's how it plays out. Apollo, the astronaut side of Apollo, CANNOT be live, has to be taped. The reason being, there? is no room for error. Neil CANNOT cough when he steps down, see what I mean? AND! ever notice how there is no cross talk? So the Quindar tones signal/break the CapComs in. Their turn, see? Apollo is scripted, taped on the astronaut? side, and CapComs are cued by the tones.
