Texan here, our gov't is extremely weak. Our legislature is part-time, their salaries are very low so there is almost no corruption. It's almost impossible to create any change that's positive or negative. It's the reason why Texas has survived the recession. It's the reason why noone in Texas cares about this and neither do those people in the video.?

He does, however, make a distinction between "hate" and "the act of hate", the latter of which he addresses as a problem worth juristic attention. I get what you are saying, though. Ideally, if I committed assault against a person, then it shouldn't matter whether or not that person is a heterosexual, Asian, Jewish or even a child. But crime can't be addressed with such ideals as I'm sure you understand

There does not need to be a mind-body separation for there to be a subjective experience. We know the brain is our experience - which is why it can be affected in specific ways by physical stimulus. Science is comprehensive, but far from complete - but not having all information about our brains (one of the most complex things in existence) does not make it mystical. That's a supposition without foundation - the unknown taken as magic, as people once did with the sun, mountains etc.?

It always amazes me how so many otherwise smart people have so much trouble with this. It's? not brain surgery! Brain activity is what our thought life looks like from the outside. But if you assume that this is all there is to it you automatically have eliminated the experience associated with it as being real. In fact, even if u want to claim that all of our experience is illusory, this still wouldn't eliminate us as the subjects of the illusion. The scientific method isn't comprehensive!

No,? Christianity offers something that is necessarily blind faith. It has no observable basis: the only way you can accept it as being certainty is if you bypass the part where you have to prove anything and just buy into: thus defeating the point and being blind faith. Anyone can say of anything 'this system has certainty . . . if you accept it as truth without question', but when there is no reason to do so, you return to the blind faith aspect of things.

It appears it is meant to provide homosexuals some type of added protection...and the drafters apparently want to insure its limited to only that purpose and doesnt go on to covere a million different other things that could be read? into "sexual orientation". Okay guys, the reason? why the fair tax is pro-growth is because without production taxes (income taxes), American manufactured goods are cheaper. Foreign goods are still taxed with the foreign country's income tax plus our sales tax, which means the purchase of more American goods. And without production taxes, domestic prices wouldn't be too much higher with a sales tax. It's a trade-off. And food, water, and used goods aren't taxed and a prebate for the poor makes the tax less regressive.

Wrong, if people have more money then they will spend it. Right now with the current tax system, someone who makes $50,000 pays 25% income tax? ($12,500), someone who makes $100,000 pays 28% income tax ($28,000), and someone making $200,000 pays 33% income tax ($66,000). With that extra cash people are bound to spend it. Actually, the 23% sales tax rate you keep using is disingenuous. The method FairTax proponents use actually puts the tax at 30%. According to Bush's panel on tax reform back in '08, it would need to start at 34% & gradually increase over time. Also, the plan calls for Gov. expenditures to be taxed.
