I was using ballistic info from a data sheet 40gr .22 lr . I was shooting 36gr hp and my target was at 220 yards I shot it consistently with a 10 dollar scope but something happened. I think I backed the elevation screw out? too far now it loses adjustment after each shot even after i bottomed it back out and readjusted. I gotta get a better scope I never actually measured to see if how much 36gr .22lr dropped. thanks

your math is correct. If you zeroed at 100 and your dope is based on a 100 yard zero, then adjust for the 40 minutes. What round are you shooting? ? 40 inches is quite a bit of drop from 100 to 200 yards.

I have my gun sighted in at 100 yards i shoot at 50 yards it low, it always there! but at 100 it's on, i have my ammo hand loaded, factory loaded ammo some is a few inches off, i change ammo i test fire it at 100 yard's if it sighted in there! see where it hits,? some shot right 3 ins & high 3 in too! that 12 clicks to left and down 12 clicks 4 clicks per inches! it's on, i write down rifle and sight load used! if you lose ammo, take long-range hunter book along it has factory ammo info listed

You need to think in MOA - 300 inches at 1000 yards is 30 MOA. If your scope adjusts in 1/8 MOA per click it would? be 30 times 8 or 240 clicks. If each turn is 60 clicks, then 4 turns will give you your 30 MOA adjustment.

His explanation of the bullet trajectory is a little off... it slows down slightly due to air resistance, but? drops more dramatically at longer ranges because it's accelerating downwards at 9.8 m/s/s.

turns out 1 MOA is 8 clicks, from 7-0moa? is 4 more clicks which total of 60 clicks. so im guessing a pain in the ass to calculate.? 7 1/2 moa per full turn. 7.5inch per full turn or 19.05cm per fturn.

thanks!, i came across a problem today while doping my scope for longer range. which required more then a full turn on the turret. on a Tasco scope 6.5x25-50, 1/8 MOA. At 400m im around 5-6 MOA from my zero, but if i needed say 14moa the turret goes to 0-7 MOA then ???? its hard to explain with out? a picture, ( | | | 6 | | | 7 0 | | | 1 | | | 2 | | | ) im not sure how many MOA there is in one turn as after 7 no lines and its uneven? couldnt find anything on google hope you can help. thank you

Sorry if this question sounds dumb but if someone says that? their AR-15 shoots 1 MOA at 100 yards mean their grouping on the paper target would all be within 1"? And if so would that mean their grouping at 200 yards would be all within 2"s? Lastly if a scope is at zero and you shoot it at let's say 100 yards and you shot say two inches lower than what you intended and the elevation knob says that if you turn the knob clockwise for up to adjust 1/8 per click does that mean I turn it clockwis

Yes. One moa at 100 yards is 1? inch. One moa at 200 yards is 2 inches and so on. Technically one moa at 100 yards is 1.047 inches or one moa at 91.44 meters equals 2.7 centimeters.

I must also add that 90% of the rifle scopes out there do not clik fractional amounts of MOA as they claim. The measurement is actually IPHY which stands for 'inch per hundred yards". They are close to each? other but if one were to hold over a 20 MOA instead of IPHY, a miss of 10" can occur at longer distances

Actually MOA is "minute of angle" only for country bumpkins. "MOA" actually is "minute of arc" for scientific people and other folks who want to be exact. Semantics aside, the correct definition for it is relavent in this case because the definitive terms underlying it are related to "arc" specifically as? a prefix...arcsecond, arcminute ect. Why do people teaching things begin on an foundation of teminological error?

That's correct. One inch to the right at? 100 yards. That adjustment actually moves the crosshairs to the left. so it can be a bit confusing but a right adjustment moves the muzzle/round to the right.

Other factors do come into play. The quality of your ammunition can make a big difference. If you're using cheap mass-produced? ammo, don't plan on getting any tighter. Also, the quality of your rifle and wind come into play. And yes, Shooter's error is a big one.

Happy to help out Soldiers. I have a few active duty in the family. I suppose the question would be why is it an angular measurement rather than a linear measurement. If you were to calibrate your turrets of a rifle scope to a linear measurement like inches, They would be accurate at, say, 100 yards but you'd still have to convert at other distances. By using an angular measurement like? MOA or Mil-Dot, it provides an accurate description regardless of the distance to the target.

I produced a follow up video that goes into more detail (MOA or Minute of Angle Part II) Or try this formula: No. Clicks = (8 * drop *100)/D where: 8 is the click value; D is the distance to the target; and drop is the bullet drop at that distance. That yields 8 clicks per inch at 100 yards; 4 clicks per inch at 200? yards, 2.7 (3) clicks per inch at 300 yards; 2 clicks per inch at 400 yards; etc.

Can someone clear this up for me: I was told that if you sight in your scope at 100yards and zero it 1.5" high, you will be bang on at 200yards. If? this is true and I`m shooting at something that is 400 yards. would I not just add 1.5" x 2 = 3". So if I aim 3 inches high on my kill zone, I should be spot on. Am I correct? Instead of messing with the turrets. I shoot a Savage Axis 22-250 with a Bushnell 3x9x40 scope.

what I dont like is that bdc turrets are for people who dont want to take the time to learn the whys and whats about long range shooting. alot of these people do not understand the effects of elevation and ballistic coefficiency and other effects and have the attitude that just dialing a range on a turret or holding a preset line on a reticle is going to work. to be able to shoot these ranges takes skill practice and MATH. Bdc are for those who? try to short cut the necessities.

dont be fooled with "ballistic drop reticles" they are for posers and wanna bees. they are caliber, loading, elevation temperature and barometric pressure specific. deviate from any of these and the turret will be? wrong or require a new specific turret. to many people buy these and think they can actually hit something at 800 yrds! puke!
