Coupled with that, the amount we pay China grows significantly each year as well. I'm not opposed to social spending on the face of it, but when nearly 100 billion goes to fraud each year between medicare and medicaid alone, we've got issues. I think the message of this video may be lost on most viewers, even those that agree with the application of the analogy. This video is more of a social experiment than anything else. It effectively shows the willingness of individuals to use the political process to vote, in good conscience no less, to take something away from someone else. I agree with you that social programs are not our biggest problem, but forced re-distribution opens the door to corruption and legalized robbery/bribery. Taxation is generally supported on the premise of helping the poor, but the first priority of the state is to expand the state. Economics is not an exact science - there is a major behavioral component? behind it. Getting back to the video, it's a poor analogy that was designed to intentionally mislead viewers and participants.
