Next to Doom,? at least. :)
By: izzyraimi. on 27 May 12, 21:28:16
I didn't even start playing Wolf 3D until? about 5 or so years ago. I got the GBA version, and pretty much fell in love with it. I regret that I never looked into this when I was young, and I was introduced to Doom before this. I'm still amazed that this sucker has 60 levels, another 30 for Spear of Destiny, and that Super Upgrade pack with 800+ levels, plus a level generator! I doubt I'll be able to play them all! Even Call o' Whatsit and Medal of Valor can't do that, lemme tell you.

Its a bit silly to show? Rage and boast graphical improvements. I know Carmack had a hand in it but Rage doesn't look any better than all the other muddy, vaseline soaked games from consoles this gen.

Ultimately, a synthetic environment rendered at the atomic scale, feed directly to your brain, Matrix style. The next big steps are true photorealism, indistinguishable from a real life camera feed. A.I. indistinguishable from a real person and physics rendered at the molecular scale. Carmack mention 1 million fold increase in compute power since W3D. That's assuming doubling every 12 month for 20 years (2? to the 20). In another 20, we'll reach a trillion fold. In 50, the figure is 2 to the 70.

Lol, definitely not. :P I'm a teen, but I'm like totally not like the kids of today - I still love the older games because they're what got us this far (being an amateur game developer? myself), and they're just flat-out great. Yeah, sure, I still love a lot of games today, but the old ones were awesome. :)

Wold3d? puts Rage to shame.. It's sad.
By: SLDrisk. on 20 May 12, 02:28:42
I love how intense John Carmack is with his programming when he can notice minute flaws that, after several run thrus over the? last two decades, I've never seen as a gamer myself. That makes it even more fun watching this!
