My guess is the gun needs the sync signal to line up with the refresh rate on the screen for some reason. Those Namco guns where known to be more accurate than previous style? light guns so it must have been why.

Yeah the early PS1's had a parallel port that was taken off the last few models of PS1 and the PSone. I don't think any official peripheral used it. Just some early Game Shark like devices or things to play Backups and Imports. The Namco light gun used the composite video? so you plugged the gun into the controller socket and another wire passed around to the composite video you plugged the PS1's composite video cable into it and it into the TV.

Did the early PS1 systems also have a Parallel I/O connector on the back? I'm pretty sure some of the earlier models did have, I believe the Namco light guns also used one of those connectors? on the back as well as the controller socket, I wanted one of these for a few days in early 2001 but didn't get one, eventually I did get a PS2. I hated PlayStation in the 90's because all the kids at school teased me about the N64, but now I wouldn't mind getting one.

That dagger thing seems not the best thing to do lol, imagine there would be blood on ur ps1, WOAAAH!!!I I remember that the qualty of the first series of the playstation had trouble with heating and disc failures in the long run, yeah, PC emulation is a good thing, I still have this grey ps1 and around 2 years ago, somebody gave me the smaller PSone for free, cos he wasnt interested in it anymore. It only plays psone ISO's. There is a file on the JXD website that updates the firmware to play GBA roms also. Now, I think this could play nes,sms, and 2600 roms.? But they have to be in psone ISO format. Those are the only emulated systems on psone, so downloading those psx emualtors should allow you to play all the old 8 bit systems. SNES and genesis roms wont run, as there isnt even a decent emulator for them on psx.

My neighbor has this system and it does indeed have real psx/psone on it. It can also play iso files from the card reader It is highly bootleg lol but cool as hell! 2D games run extremely well as well as partially 3d games but very high polygon games stutter or go slow. Some do not work at all. We haven't found? a way yet to skip frames to make these games run at a decent speed

I don't think this box is going to offer official Sony Playstation or Nintendo games. When Charbax asked for Playstation and Nintendo games, she answered 'yes', but I guess she didn't fully understand his question. It's probably only going to play very basic and old, freely available games from the area of a Gameboy Color or so ... Don't expect this to offer Gran Turismo 2 ! And of course, they can't offer a console with 100? official Sony and Nintendo games, licenses would cost 1000 $...

this is just simple way to mod a ps1 now in days. the 12f629 chips is pretty easy and programmable. you can do this with the fat ps1 but you will need to solder more wires. if you wish to get the hex code and pic, just send me your email on a PM and i will send it to you :)

The Sony PlayStation 1 Slot Loading Drive modification by Haunted360. Ditched the idea of swapping the laser diode over as it was very sensitive. Can not be done by hand... So instead, I swapped the motor over... Expect it within 1 week with the mechanics installed... The hard part is out of the way basically...

Nono. I meant that the same spindle / hub technology is in them. They use a brushless motor with a brushless motor controller. In the PS1, they used a brushed motor. Yes. This is the drive disassembled. I ordered a motor (brushed) for this drive and fitted it in with the correct spindle on? it. Any 5.9 (6) volt brushed motor will work fine. If I was to use the brushless, it would be a huge headache as I would need to make the controller for it.

Yes. The German modder did it. But he said he did it very poorly, and if he opened the console, it would break. Correct. If it is a sealed unit, there is a less chance of damaging the laser diode and or eye. I can make this work with ANY PlayStation? 1 console. Including the PSone. However, the drive will not fit in a PSone, unless you do serious metal work on the slot loading drive itself. Even so, it is not worth it. I would like to after this, attempt it on a PS2 slim.

Regonized many familiar games. My parents would never bought that many games when i was a kid. It's sad but true i had only like 10 playstation games and half of them were shitty. Of course I had couple demo discs? but that was only sneak peek to numbers of games I never got to play. I missed all final fantasy games but i'm glad that I have still chance to play em' because my friends have some of them, I can still buy them or I could download them and burn them.

@bigmenlo Soul Reaver is a game that definitely can use an update visually. The gameplay was amazing and so was the atmosphere. Imagine what can be done for this game utilizing today's advances? in gaming technology and the level of creativity which brought about this game. I'm speechless!

I agree! I remember liking it more than the Twisted Metal series especially after 989 took over (ugh). Second Offense? took it up a few notches with advanced lighting and the futuristic upgrades to name a few features. I still favor Twisted Metal 1 and 2 (especially 2), but the Vigilante 8 series took vehicular combat to the next level in my opinion.

Yes, the fact that the 3D chip was added in the last minute doesn't make him weak, but it makes the system complex. That's because 3D games were better? on PS but with some more knowledge the Saturn could offer better. Just like I said, look at shenmue's vid on Saturn. I said it as a joke because there were 24? dislikes. But if you seriously think that a console that was primarily designed for 2D gaming (The Saturn) with a 3D chip put in it at the last second is more powerful than a PS1 that was designed primarily for 3D graphics, then power to you. =)
