Yes. The video is a weak partisan thing; but the speech is beautiful and timeless, reaching across all divides. The video represents us - imperfect, biased,? flawed. There are few human beings whose speeches & tragedies? I almost always shed tears over. More than just expressing & symbolizing tragedies, RFK seemed to be able to express human emotions in ways that most humans could relate to, however different we think we are from one another. Perhaps as a politician, RFK, too, would've fallen short; but as a person, he had changed more than most in his life time. For the better. Ted's eulogy for RFK must rank as one of the greatest eulogies of all times.

I concur with you on people sometimes making drastic change in their world views. I think RFK was one of those. The change must have started when his? brother was assassinated; and his metamorphosis into a better, more complete human being must have completed after King was assassinated a few years later. I was a small boy living under the path of those American B-52s from Thai bases (around 1972 - '74), as they flew over my village, to bomb eastern Laos, the most bomed country in the world.

You do realize RFK? never had to give this speech, right? He chose to give it so they would know about the assassination and wouldn't riot. His campaign aides and the police in Indianapolis told him not to give the speech because these inner-city ppl were gonna kill him but he gave the speech anyway. How would? JFK and RFK handle today's issues? JFK was a somewhat conservative Democrat, Bobby more liberal. They were both very creative in their thinking- out of the box, really. Would they reflexively tout the Democratic talking points of 2012? I doubt either would stand pat while jobs are being sucked out of this country. Would they have embraced Gay Marriage, Abortion, and other left wing social issues? Ted Kenney and the other Kenndy's in politics did, but who knows?

Then a minute later, you can hear people murmuring that the Senator was shot, with CBS correspondent Terry Drinkwater (this part was recorded, but not fed to the network) urging his crew to rewind tape to see if they could find anything on the shooting.

Andrew West was? the Mutual Radio Reporter you mentioned. He is the reporter wearing glasses to Kennedy's right who asks him a question on the stage immediately after RFK finishes his speech. He then turned off his tape recorder and turned it back on after hearing the shots and entering the pantry. A recently discovered tape by a reporter named Pruszynski records the shots as breaking out at 1 min. 30 sec. after he finished the speech--before the sounds at 5:25 on this video.

A Mutual correspondent was in the corridor, asking RFK about his plans for a likely Fall run against Nixon, but heard gunshots, realized what happened, and then reported on-the-air "Has Senator Kennedy been shot? It's a shame no one has uploaded the NBC or ABC coverage from that night. NBC got video of Sirhan being hustled through the lobby as an angry mob took off? after him, as well as some fascincating live interviews with eyewitnesses who were missed by CBS.. ABC was the only network to have a reporter broadcasting live (audio) from the pantry before RFK was removed. They also managed to get a live camera feed from the pantry literally seconds after RFK was removed on the stretcher..
