There are few human beings whose speeches & tragedies I almost always shed tears over. More than just expressing & symbolizing tragedies, RFK seemed to be able to express human emotions in ways that most humans could relate to, however different we think we are from one another. Perhaps as a politician, RFK, too, would've fallen short; but as a person,? he had changed more than most in his life time. For the better. Ted's eulogy for RFK must rank as one of the greatest eulogies of all times.
By: HenryDavidT. on 27 May 12, 23:43:27
I concur with you on people sometimes making drastic change in their world views. I think RFK was one of those. The change must have started when his brother was assassinated; and his metamorphosis into a better, more complete human being must have completed after King was assassinated a few years later. I was a small boy living under the path of those American B-52s from Thai bases (around 1972 - '74),? as they flew over my village, to bomb eastern Laos, the most bomed country in the world.

I was 12 years old when Bobby Kennedy was shot. I don't know if the world we lived in yesteryear, or the world we live in today is just mad! I've always felt that there is a conspiracy against human life, and we humans are but pawns. And who are the conspirators? Some entity filled with jealousy and hatred of us, I could be wrong. But this evil? is pandemic. And what better way to bring destruction upon ourselves than have man against man. If this isn't conspiracy, then I don't what is!

All the noise on here betrays the truth: this is a remarkable example of oratory. No rehearsed sound bites or TelePrompTer. All from? his head and, more impressively his heart.
By: squidhound11. on 18 May 12, 00:33:39
He was/still is a hero to me. I was only 12 when he was killed and it affected me deeply. He was a man who, I felt, could change the world for the better. He understood the plight of? the underprivileged, he sympathized with black america, was against injustice and inequality and organized crime. He loved his country and sacrificed himself for it. He would have found a way out of Vietnam. He was a man of peace and honor who was taken way too soon. Damn you Sirhan! And I am not even an American!

A superb, impromptu,? piece of eloquence in a noble cause..
By: ptownkid81. on 13 May 12, 10:24:02
People do change!!! And if you know anything regarding the history of RfK... he changed drastically after the death of his brother(JFK)!!! RFK pre 11/22/63 and RFK post 11/22/63 are completely different people. Prior do? his brother's death he was just another politician... after his brother's death he did what he felt was the right thing to do. Your statement goes beyond an oversimplification/generalization... It's just ignorant.
By: Rachel Dylan-Kennedy. on 12 May 12, 23:23:43
You do realize RFK never had to give this speech, right? He? chose to give it so they would know about the assassination and wouldn't riot. His campaign aides and the police in Indianapolis told him not to give the speech because these inner-city ppl were gonna kill him but he gave the speech anyway. Then the next day he gave "on the mindless menace of violence speech" instead of campaigning although he shoulda been campaigning getting votes b/c he entered the race 3 months late.
By: saddoboxing1. on 11 May 12, 13:06:34
Martin Luther King Jr was real hero - he was totally against American War in Vietnam. But this guy -? this rich white "liberal" was just another warmonger just like his brother was. He never stood against Vietnam War. He was just the same kinda a charlatan like Eugene McCarthy. In 1968 when Americans started finally understand they have ambushed in Indochina, McCarthy and Bobby Kennedy manipulated public and pretended to be Peace Nicks.

Very great impromptu speech-it is very sad that 3 months later in that same year Bobby Kennedy would be killed also-RIP? Marin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy

American dolloars were paying for a state that oppose radical Islam, and no longer sought an Arab-Israeli War,? like his two predacessors did, one of which at least had the sense to realize it was a worthless effort. Regardless of how bad Mubarak was, he was still better that somebody like Ayman al-Zawahiri or even Gamal Nasser.
By: Jononutoob. on 29 Apr 12, 02:13:35
American dollars paid for the police state that was killing Egyptian protestors and your response is "the lesser of 2 evils". People like you make me sick. You have nothing in you, no moral or ideal that you can stand on. You seem to think the ends? justify the means, which has been said by some pretty sadistic leaders.
By: Jononutoob. on 29 Apr 12, 02:10:35
When did I say all? Stop deflecting. You just admitted our policy is the less of 2 evils.? So our policy is to support evil. Im sorry but I find it difficult to agree with spreading "democracy" while supporting anti democratic states. It seems too much like imperialism to me, or manipulation. And using your logic about Saddam, anyone in any armed forces of any nation is an extremist. All you can do is scrap around for excuses on why our foreign policy lacks idealistic integrity.
By: DTD110865. on 28 Apr 12, 03:54:36
You're full of shit. Not all of our allies are dicators. Pakistan claimed they wanted were opposed to the Taliban & Al-Qaida, but even if that wasn't true, we're opposed to the idea of another war between them and Pakistan, which now has the added risk of going nuclear. Egypt's former dicator vowed to continue the policy of NOT starting anymore Arab-Israeli Wars. It's a question of the lesser of two evils, and Saddam DID NOT hate extremists, becasue he was one? himself!
By: Jononutoob. on 27 Apr 12, 00:59:40
Anyone who supports US foreign policy? is a moral hypocrite. We give Pakistan billions while they kill innocent people We keep Egypt's former dictator in power and pay for his police forces which killed protestors during the Arab spring. You are a fucking joke. You have no moral integrity. You say something is bad if Iran or Syria does it then say it is good if your own country does it. You are controlled by bias, not truth. Oh and Saddam hated extremists as they were a threat to his power, idiot
By: Jononutoob. on 27 Apr 12, 00:55:05
You know the majority of hijackers on 911 were Saudi? Saddam starved his people so he could maintain control over the population. The Sauds are seen as western sellouts by fundamental Muslims. Saddam was also a puppet of the west, until he attempted to sell his oil in something other than dollars, which is the reason we went into Iraq. If it was about freedom? of the people, we wouldnt have supported his rise to power and let him stay there for 20+ years.
By: capricornlady11. on 26 Apr 12, 04:11:04
I have watched several videos that are missing the same specific paragraph*** That's what I meant in? the second line.
By: capricornlady11. on 26 Apr 12, 01:58:21
Did you know that a whole paragraph of his speech was edited? I have look at several videos have that specific paragraph. Why is that? they just don't want to show Kennedy's religious side? it goes like this... "So I ask you tonight to return home, to say a prayer for the family of Martin Luther King -- yeah, it's true -- but more importantly to say a prayer for our own country, which all of us love --? a prayer for understanding and that compassion of which I spoke. "
By: DTD110865. on 25 Apr 12, 23:37:13
Saddam starved? his people for his own glory and his terrorist support, and Saudi Arabia isn't forcing Sharia Law abroad. Al-Qaida opposes Saudi Arabia because they allowed U.S. and other military bases in the country, and thuse exposed the Arabian Peninsula to other cultures. Even if they're not the model fro human rights in the Middle East, the Saudi Kingdom is as much Al-Qaida's enemy as we are.
By: Jononutoob. on 25 Apr 12, 22:38:18
Saddam was the dictator of Iraq, most dictators make statues of themselves. Dont see your point there. Saudi Arabia is under sharia law you dingbat. Recently US sold? billions in fighter jets to them. Seems like a lot of support for policies we are supposed to oppose. We dont want Islamic fundamentalists in Iran but they are okay in Saudi Arabia? You are the joke. Too bad it isnt a funny one.
By: DTD110865. on 25 Apr 12, 22:28:03
Wrong again, asswipe. Saddam was creating monuments to himself all over the country, and buying fancy toys for himself and his kids and supporting both secular and Islamo-fascist terrorist throughout the Middle East. Saudi Arabia isn't waging holy war all over the world or? protecting those who do, like the Taliban did, and Iran still does. Egypt at least honored the 1978 Camp David Peace Accords, and wasn't trying to be like Nasser. MY ignorance? You people are a fucking joke!
By: Jononutoob. on 25 Apr 12, 22:22:00
using your logic? if I dont like how you behave I could shoot you and say it was a reaction, not an act of violence. Stop sucking your national bias's penis and open your eyes. We opposed Saddam while we love a theocratic dictator in Saudi Arabia? We supported Mubarak in Egypt! Im done communicating with you. Your ignorance is annoying.
