There are too many people out there that go out for teaching because they just want an easy job with tenure. Hire people who ENJOY teaching and want to be there. If you are doing your job, you do not need? tenure. Get rid of your teacher union. Stop saying more money will fix the problem because it has already been proven that it does not. Just like in the private sector, competition would make teachers do their job better. Don't be scared of punishing a student(s) who is part of a minority.

My highschool, for the most part seems to be quite good at discipline, and discouraging cheating, and being real. Now granted, my school is rare, but pretty much everyone there has at least a? 3.0 or something close. If you start doing bad, you are basically asked to go to a different school. I can tell that my teachers have been in the real world.

I believe teachers should teach and do all they can BUT if the student doesnt do the homework or skips class that teacher should be exempt from? any judgement from their peers or mandates. As far as teacher accountability, there seems to be too many school, union rules, lawyers and laws and political correctness muddling up the waters. Tear down the walls, it's good to have some of the rules, however there should be some more flexibility and intelligence when enforcing them. I think there needs to be some more flexibility, because? not all teachers teach the same way nor do all the students learn the same way.

Teachers and staff should lead by example, be moral.? Don't be promiscuous or over flirtatious or sexual with students. Be honest, moral, and as fair as possible. There should be a carrot and a stick for the teachers. There should be awards and recognition given to all teachers, particularly of the good ones. Praise reward for excellence. Verbal chastising, probation or termination for unacceptable behavior or performance.

Children need to be able to think for more themselves at times (to be more independent and? creative). Instead of just being sheep. I think discipline is one of the cornerstones, bring back capital punishment (spanking) in elementary school. It can sometimes correct a student's behavior and serve as an example to the rest. It's hard for a teacher to do their work, if the students are not properly disciplined.

Teachers need to sometimes let the children speak, and debate and ask questions. I was a very good math student until my public school went to a lecture format, then I could barely pass. I would often get confused by how the teacher said something, and since it's like building blocks, if you don't? understand the lower level, you're likely to be lost from there on. Students should know that there is time to follow orders, but yet know there is times to be independent and creative.

I think we need? to stop teaching to the lowest common denominator. Expel students that are extreme discipline problems; which is virtually impossible to do now days. Students that are determined to drop out, should be allowed to drop out. The students with very bad discipline problems and motivation problems can be very disruptive.

I think we need to bring back the Pledge of Allegiance, honest patriotism, voluntary prayer, the Golden rule, and allow the 10 Commandments to be posted. When I grew up some of the patriotism they taught? was ridiculous, like Ben Franklin discovered electricity, he made some great strides, however electricity was discovered long before he experimented with it. I think we need to get back to squares (basics). I think we need to drop a lot of the political correct garbage, and start being more? straight and honest and direct. Teachers and students should be used to criticism, that's part of life. I think there should be more stress on morals and work ethic (for staff and students). Friendofbillw the problem you are talking about,? I think is more prevalent and relevant at the college level. The truth to what you say is a lot of teachers don't know what it's like to be out in the real world, however their world is very real and very hard in some aspects. Being a schoolteacher can be very hard, particularly when you really want to teach the kids well.

think about it, teachers have never left school nor have they participated in the real world. As children,they went to school,then left school to go to another school to learn how to teach and are now at school attempting to teach. small wonder most teachers have no fkin idea about anything! please exscuse any gramatical errors, i was taught English by a teacher.innit?
