That's certainly a nice idea and I agree that we shouldn't have? Medicare. But keep in mind--this is politics, and you can't just abolish something that 80% of the voters support. In the meantime, Rand is right for working towards practical reforms to the system that will save us at least a decent amount of money. I agree that overextended insurance is the problem, but that doesn't mean we should abolish medical insurance. We should get rid of tax code inequity that favors overutilization of employer-based insurance, but people should be able to use major medical policies in order to be covered in the? event of expensive, catastrophic illness.
