No, you live in province where the government controls alcohol sales. Go to Alberta and find? a gov't liquor store. You should learn about your own country before you start trying to preach how apparently "simple" all this is. Liquor regulations are delegated to the provinces in Canada. And you mention extracting all surplus value to be spent on the state. Where does the money to expand a business come from? Capitalism is still superior to socialism; socialsim is nothing more than an idealistic fantasy worshipped by the working class (mainly high-school dropouts). Communism is a small political movement in small communities, and Socialism is an economic system throughout a society after Communism gains momentum. I disagree with your premise of banning firearms, other methods? such as strengthening laws and limiting access can all be achieved if the NRA was no longer an issue. A civilian ban would require massive federal resources to enforce and I don't think many people will be willing to turn in their handguns and assault weapons. While I agree with your assessment of the situation and the basic premise that society must change itself, I also feel that 40,000 deaths constitutes an emergency. ? In emergency situations where the innocent lives of citizens are concerned, I believe emergency measures are called for. An across the board ban on all civilian hand guns would at least save some lives, then we could begin work on changing minds. Check out Mankiw's "Macroeconomics" (the most widely used macro textbook) if you don't believe me. It's simple economics: you tax more of something, you get less of it.
