If they wanted to they could have rolled the Ryan Atwood character from the OC into who Ben plays in southland. Hes a cop who came from a money family in LA, and is frequently asked why he became a cop and called "richy rich" by? John Cooper. It might have made for an interesting backstory, not that the current stories arnt interesting. NBC wishes they still had southland....ever since seinfeld and friends went off the air they have struggled to find a hit. They pull the cord on shows too early

Great show. I know they cut back funding and all but I think it was a mistake to let Jason Alejandro, Arija Bareikis, & Mike McGrady go and focus the show less on detective roles. I thought the detective parts? gave the show more variety. I love Lucy Liu though.

there was a huge budget cut that was made during season two alittle past half way thru the season they cut half of the actors off and they lost half of there budget due to TNT saying it was to expensive to make just one episode. i do admit after watching all of season one you can tell they spent alot of money on just one season. so with the budget cut that was HUGE and half the? charaters gone they had no choice when they changed the story to fit the budget.

Maybe because it's a cable show, and not everyone has cable. Also cable shows make less episodes per season. Another reason could be that people want to see boring shows like CSI and NCIS and Bones and forget about? shows like like Third Watch and Soutland, that are actually original and awesome. I looks at this show like Dragnet and Adams 12 combined.

The problem with Southland Tales is how it was marketed. It's the exact same problem Donnie Darko had. I do find it amazing this director's films get released in theatres. Regardless of what you may think of his movies they fail to? make a profit. The studios lost money. He's making decent films that would be better served going direct to dvd where there's an actual chance for them to make money.

I watched this movie with a couple of friends last night and I've never seen a movie that strained so hard to have every shot "mean? something." When I watch a movie, I want to be entertained, not preached to by a hack film-maker. Also, when a full half of your story requires you to go out and purchase 3 comic books to make sense of, you've shoved too much stuff in. I watched SouthLand Tales 5 times before I 'got it', the soundtrack is awesome and magical, and the movie gave me goosebumps, and touched me, even though it was raunchy in a way... but that's what 'we'> Human's are, raunchy. I give this movie 5 stars, but watch it on D.V.D so you can? 'pause & rewind' a lot or you are bound to miss a lot!
