I agree. Paying taxes, like laws, so be easy to understand for the average American. They just have a flat rate that everyone pays, and no-one should get more back than they paid in. If you work for a company or are paid as an independent contractor the rate should be? the same. It seems the taxes are arbitrary and backwards.
By: kurtismookie. on 12 Apr 12, 15:36:32
The milk analogy makes this sound mutually beneficial. A better analogy would be a robber walking up to the man with? a 44 magnum, forcing him to fill out the forms under threat of the robber following the man back to his house, taking that, his car, draining the kids college accounts and the possibly kidnapping the man and placing his in a cage, for not submitting to the theft. All while telling the man that being swindled is for his own benefit.
By: Antiks72. on 21 Mar 12, 16:05:36
We went through? Vietnam and WW 2, dummy. Oh yeah, and then there was Korea too. Since war was expensive, we had tax rates to pay for it. Today, we don't. The reason the economy is in the shitter is because we deregulated the banking industry back in the nineties.
By: DemonarDG. on 21 Mar 12, 12:23:18
Wonder why is that...oh right! Because wars are prohibitively expensive. End the wars in the middle east. The war on terror. The war on drugs. That's all you need to do to keep the debt from rising. You wouldn't need to cut welfare or other social programs,? nor steal from the rich and pretend it's fair.
By: Antiks72. on 16 Mar 12, 18:01:55
We've had tax decreases on the richest for the last 30 years, and our economy is in the shitter. Back when the tax rate was super high on the rich (90 percent on the richest), the economy grew rather well, minus a small recession after WW 2.?
By: sonotover. on 13 Mar 12, 03:56:31
Except the? guy in the analogy is voluntarily buying the milk, he isn't being forced to buy it like he is forced to pay for welfare and farm subsidies and bailouts.
By: HIMYNAMEISEVAN. on 12 Mar 12, 20:39:51
Yeah, I kinda agree with you on this one. Just do a flat tax code. Make things a lot more simple. Especially income tax. Maybe corporations should have a? tax code, but no one else.
By: hellofart16. on 02 Mar 12, 20:58:59
no.?

Do you know that Christianity? is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and? the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.

I expected the man to break down and say: "Fine I'll buy the software so I don't have to deal with this next time. How much is it?" "Well that depends, Sir. If you'd just fill out these forms I can tell you how much? the software is."
By: qhack. on 14 Feb 12, 16:37:30
I think you misunderstand me, friend... I know it's just semantics, but to me progressive policies are regressive. I did not mean to? imply that VAT was, in anyway, a good thing. I only meant to say that a sales tax isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sorry for the confusion there.
By: halloranedward. on 14 Feb 12, 16:17:19
LIAR. the value added tax is? regressive not progressive , that is why it is preferred by socialist.
By: qhack. on 13 Feb 12, 16:22:10
To continue... Your notion that a sales tax will cause spiraling inflation, has no evidence in history to back it up. Yes, it will be a inflated price on the goods or services provided, but it is a fixed amount and can not create a spiral effect. ? However, injecting trillions of dollars into the economy like is currently happening with the FED... well, that is going to cause spiraling inflation.
By: qhack. on 13 Feb 12, 16:14:49
True, but one can be applied at a 'Flat' percentage while the VAT? is by nature progressive. Stating that you want a flat tax means little unless you specify what it is your wanting to tax. Are you wanting a flat tax on income? Or maybe it's capital gains? Or do you lump those together? If you don't bother taxing a persons income and only tax what is consumed, you eliminate the propensity of class warfare.
By: halloranedward. on 13 Feb 12, 15:41:54
"value added tax" is a name for sales tax. It is government mandated inflation of prices. You cannot have a sales tax without causing inflation because it is inflation that is? why capitalist want a flat tax.
By: qhack. on 12 Feb 12, 22:54:13
I won't disagree with your notion that my idea would be a kind of government intervention of the market. It was merely a way to show that you can have a national sales tax without laying waste to the bottom of the scale. Your notion that a national sales tax would destroy this country is just plain wrong. Most of this country does pay a sales tax. In those States, it makes little difference to the economy. Also, a value added tax is different than? a sales tax.
By: halloranedward. on 12 Feb 12, 21:43:06
You just gave your self away, "exclude food and medicine" means the government is? changing the price of some types of products, the government in a free country does not change prices. "cause people to save" the government in a free country does not force or even encourage buying habits. A national value added tax means that all goods go up in price, what about the people who are just making it now? a national sales tax is to put half this country on welfare.
By: qhack. on 11 Feb 12, 22:05:31
Regressive? You mean like how the top 10% pay 2/3 of all the income the federal government receives while the bottom 47% pay nothing at all? in income tax? The video is correct, the tax code needs to be simplified. Flat tax with no deductions.
By: qhack. on 11 Feb 12, 21:38:20
If implemented properly, it could be done. For instance, if you exclude food and medicine from the sales tax it would allow the poor to function without the burden. If they want to buy an iPhone, well then they pay a tax. Feel the need to put gas in your car, then you pay a tax. For those who want to save the planet, that alone would put more people on bicycles. A national sales tax would not be 'trickle up poverty', but it? would cause people to save rather than spend.
By: 88roro11. on 10 Feb 12, 18:31:25
most people my age are extremely liberal.. i mean im liberal on a few things? (civil rights let people live their lives the way they want to) but not when it comes to the budget... yea we gotta get this under control... cut government down to size.. make the government live off taxes to help manage its size... and prevent the government from taking loans from fed / other countries.. when the tax payers are footing the bill
By: halloranedward. on 10 Feb 12, 18:16:45
They get better suction that . Please don't keep it to yourself. explain it to people your age. These guys think there? were children working in the mines and mills in 1970, and that the EPA prevents cancer, makes us old rednecks want to kick some ///!
By: 88roro11. on 10 Feb 12, 02:47:44
agreed.? keep the government sucking through a coffee straw :P
By: halloranedward. on 30 Jan 12, 22:27:53
a flat tax? of 1% to the state and 5% to the fed, after the first $25,000 of income would let the poorest people in America off the hook altogether, and provide more than enough money for all legitimate functions of government.
By: halloranedward. on 30 Jan 12, 22:26:01
a national sales tax would cause immediate spiraling inflation. It is something that socialist have been pushing for a long time. It overlooks something very basic about capitalism that they know most people don't get. in capitalism, price is an imaginary number. believe me a national sales tax would be "trickle up poverty" fast enough to bankrupt us in a year. you will raise prices across the board, and the poorest people will need? a raise to get by.
