I agree. Paying taxes, like laws, so be easy to understand for the average American. They just have a flat rate that everyone pays, and no-one should get more back than they paid in. If you work for a company or are paid as an independent contractor the rate should be? the same. It seems the taxes are arbitrary and backwards.

The milk analogy makes this sound mutually beneficial. A better analogy would be a robber walking up to the man with? a 44 magnum, forcing him to fill out the forms under threat of the robber following the man back to his house, taking that, his car, draining the kids college accounts and the possibly kidnapping the man and placing his in a cage, for not submitting to the theft. All while telling the man that being swindled is for his own benefit.

We went through? Vietnam and WW 2, dummy. Oh yeah, and then there was Korea too. Since war was expensive, we had tax rates to pay for it. Today, we don't. The reason the economy is in the shitter is because we deregulated the banking industry back in the nineties.

We've had tax decreases on the richest for the last 30 years, and our economy is in the shitter. Back when the tax rate was super high on the rich (90 percent on the richest), the economy grew rather well, minus a small recession after WW 2.?

True, but one can be applied at a 'Flat' percentage while the VAT? is by nature progressive. Stating that you want a flat tax means little unless you specify what it is your wanting to tax. Are you wanting a flat tax on income? Or maybe it's capital gains? Or do you lump those together? If you don't bother taxing a persons income and only tax what is consumed, you eliminate the propensity of class warfare.

I won't disagree with your notion that my idea would be a kind of government intervention of the market. It was merely a way to show that you can have a national sales tax without laying waste to the bottom of the scale. Your notion that a national sales tax would destroy this country is just plain wrong. Most of this country does pay a sales tax. In those States, it makes little difference to the economy. "cause people to save" the government in a free country does not force or even encourage buying habits. If implemented properly, it could be done. For instance, if you exclude food and medicine from the sales tax it would allow the poor to function without the burden. If they want to buy an iPhone, well then they pay a tax. Feel the need to put gas in your car, then you pay a tax. For those who want to save the planet, that alone would put more people on bicycles. A national sales tax would not be 'trickle up poverty', but it? would cause people to save rather than spend.

The way I see it is that there are the bankers, the major corporations, and the military industrial complex (MIC) that control the country. If it were me, I would bring down the? whole damn IRS! I would remove all Federal Taxes on people. I would replace it with a Federal/State Tax. This would allow all states to have their own tax rates, and codes, putting the states in control of their economy. All states would then pay a fee of 15-20%, of all the money they collected in taxes, to the federal government.

Ah I was under the impression that you meant taxation, which is what the IRS handles, was stealing. The Fed printing money constantly is a major problem and, the balance to making sure money doesn't devalue, is the interest rate at which it creates and loans out that money. What has happened, however, is that the Fed is lending that money out at? nearly 0% interest, so it's causing the value of the dollar to decrease faster than before. Rates shouldn't have been that low ever.

I'd be gad to pay extra taxes even if my $20,000 supported standard living conditions. What will do more harm someone with $5 dollars being taxed a dollar or someone with $20 being taxed $5 dollars? For someone making $50,000 the 10,000 given? in taxes could have kept their family's house from being forclosed or gotten better health insurance for their family. $50,000 or even $100,000 from someone making $250,00 might upset them but it has nothing to do with their survival.

All those percentages mean nothing if you're not looking at what it's? a percentage *of*. The "rich" could pay 99% income tax, but if they have no income, it's kinda pointless. The biggest myth is that everyone, including the rich, has income in the same way. Most people's only source of money is their income, hence taxed, the super wealthy could stop working today and not pay any income taxes for generations. The *income* tax inherently ignores the wealthy, argue the rest all you want.

The only thing suggested by the stats at 0:19 and 1:45, is that the top 5% of America is so rich that it is sickening. With a tax rate that's approximately double the average, they account for 60% of the income tax. So had they paid the average tax, they'd be at about 30%, which is 75%? of how much the ENTIRE other 95% pays together. This implies that, if you combine ALL the wealth of the bottom 95%, and take 75% of that, you get an idea of how rich the top 5% actually is.

Yes i agree with your first paragraph. Technically `inflation` is just an increase in money supply. However when people actually yes inflation they usually mean consumer inflation. It is a fact to say that increases in money supply have not always led to increse in consumer inflation, it may or may? not this time. I fail to understand this dichotomy that exists between the workers and their employers.? You should be ecstatic when your company makes money, because that means you will make money. If you are a valuable employee, you will probably be granted that raise. The reason businesses are not expanding right now is because of the volatility in the economy and government interference. I disagree, I would love for companies to charge higher wages but with the state of? affairs we have no they can (huge corps) get these massive margins and pay their employees less/get large margins BECAUSE of the way government has helped them squeeze out competition. The nice thing about companies is that if you don't want to buy from them, you can choose not to. We only have one government, the most natural monopoly. that's what a venture capital company does, the government takes that money and uses some for the common welfare, and either wastes or? pockets the overwhelming majority. I think as someone put it earlier, it's not even about the tax rates; what more important is HOW the revenue is being used. Countries overseas have hilariously high tax rates but some in northern europe spend much much less on programs because they're actually effecient. Here in the US, it's not the case.

That being said, I oppose anyone having to give up what they're good at, when you force any entity to limit an action that they're the best at, it hurts everyone else in the process. I don't know what legislation you're referring to because there hasn't been "more" and this has been an issue ever since the late 1800's... and the problem is corporations are buying out congress, literally. Look up ALEC. Both of those were horizontal. Sears attempted to incorporate vertical integration but was broken up before they could. Companies like Walmart ARE legal because it's more vertical than horizontal integration meaning that they're not going after companies like them who sell similar things, they go after the SUPPLIERS. The biggest loophole is Corporations can defer income taxes on income earned in? foreign countries until that money reaches the states. Maybe corporations don't pass savings down the line, but they DO pass burdens on. When a company loses 20,000 dollars, does the CEO's salary decrease, or does a factory worked get fired?? Assuming companies don't pay a full 35%, what's the problem with lowering the tax rate? There's no difference between a company paying 100% of a 15% tax rate and paying 43% of a 35% tax rate, except one way requires companies to spend extra money to cheat.
