1) The acting was passable at best, given that the actors had nothing to work with. 2) Great story line!? see earlier comment about Tuskegee Airmen. 3) Your enthusiasm for special effects and sound effects and "action" confirm my suspicion that you would be happy with anything, no matter how empty, as long as it was shiny and/or dazzling, much like dogs, toddlers or retarded people. 4) yes, it was a great TRUE STORY. It's a pity so little of the great? true story actually made it into the movie.

There was no attempt to put any of the film's events into any historical context?if you didn't know the story of the Tuskegee Airmen before going in, you weren't going to know it coming back out.? There was ZERO character development. The dialogue was awful (that's George Lucas' fingerprints all over it). There were all these superfluous subplots that never went anywhere. What was good about it? If you're gonna say "awesome dogfight scenes," please think of something else.

I just watched this about the harlem rens which was the 1st (black) team to beat the celtics and all (white) team in the 1st non- segrigated champion ship in 1939. They also gave credit to others? also during World War 2 who hasn't heard of the Navajo code talkers and the Japanese failure to crack the Navajo code. Also some Japanese Americans fought in World War 2 even though some of their relatives were in Interment camps.

I highly respect all of our veterans as I am one myself and know some of the sacrifice that our military men and women make to serve our country. Finally, I am perfectly aware of the somewhat exaggerated claims made about the "Red Tails", they, in fact lost bombers,? very few, but they lost them, but that same sources who debunk the myth of the "Red Tail never lost a bomber" also acknowledge their outstanding performance...and the discrimination they suffered was´nt a myth or HBO fiction, was sadly real and still they fought tooth and nail for their country...just as white people did, and that my friend, deserves praise.

@aka4god @aka4god - No Walter Peoples was one of several composite characters in the movie. Among this group they took? a couple of names and created a composite character. The actual incident is not entirely true either; my father, Walter Palmer, did buzz a Tuskegee U. football game in Michigan - he was almost thrown out of the program (the comment about being "one of the few..." was accurate, but said at his court martial) but he was instead busted down and grounded for a couple of months.

i think redtails is a sequal or a reboot to the tuskegee airmen because this movie gives more details on what they went through in training it gave more storyline on who they were individually and red tails put more emphasis on the actions or actual air battles. To me they are just two peices part of? the same puzzle. now if you are looking for accurate then it would be this movie but for more action and adversity then it would be redtails.
