Since the 1980s large corp saw the writing on the wall regarding pensions. They fased them out and replaced them with? 401ks. The unions get their power (like communisum) by expand and dues and when the pay, rights and saftey were all at the heighest levels back in the 80s they could have downsized and come back full force if their was a need but they keeped growing their power so these are not their only agenda. The dues go to Dems for relection so they can favor business,causes power.

An overwhelming majority of unions are only in existence for collective bargaining. I live under the common sense philosophy that if you dont want to work as hard as a job requires for the amount of benefits and compensation you get, you should quit or don't take the job in the first place. I'd love to hear of a union that? does not believe in using strikes to force companies to pay them more.

Unions have been sucking businesses and the public dry since the day they were founded. Employees accept a job for $8 an hour, and 2 weeks later go on strike demanding $12 an hour. Because the? company cant afford to keep lines shut down they're forced to pay the higher salary. 2 weeks later it happens again, and again, until the company no longer can sustain the employees. When they go bankrupt they tell the employees that they have to take a pay cut or be laid off. The employees choose no cuts.

This is where we disagree. I believe you should only be paid for what you have earned. It is a balanced approach. Our society is leaning back toward a balanced direction. Providing any individual with money they did not earn is? inherently immoral and only place us further into debt. The reality is people would take advantage of any opportunity. I had a free college education; it was great to have the govt pay for my education and enjoyment. It is silly to think spending is the answ.

the person who gets more than they pay will benefit us in other ways besides monetarily. If you only think in terms of money, if thats all that has worth to you, then you fail here. Its really sad to hear that thats all some people see as having value. Luckily as a society we dont think that way, so we know that what we? gave you will benefit us and bring us more money in the long term than we gave you. I had free college education, and I gained money by going to college courtesy of the govt and the tax payer. If someone is going to give away free money, it is in a person best interest to leech? from it. Personally, I have a hard time seeing the value of a college education. A vocational education seems more valuable, it has more use. I don't hate anyone for collecting free money because I would do the same. I just don't support the giving of free money.

My dad was on unemployment benefit, and he said he would basically wait it out. He was going to accept the benefit until he couldnt anymore, and then look for a job. TRUE STORY. I don't blame him; he is old and free money is awesome. Free money paid for my college education. I didn't pay a dime. The taxpayer paid for me. I love taking? advantage of the system.

Although, the problems that you describe aren't to the same extent where I come? from it certainly does exist. What irritates me most is the mentality of these people.
