I think i can manage it... if its interesting. It would sure help if its a fun place to be though. Are people generally friendly? Would you say that the atmosphere is warm? I would love to be at a place where there are lots of people who can actually hold a conversation on say, nihilism, but i also need a place where people are? genuinely nice and are interested in being social and just getting to know each other for support and comraderie.

I have? to say that the academic life is fulfilling if you can manage your time, but for me it's been much harder socially. Normal people are needed, so if you want to improve a school with your kindness and openness, you should come. You'll learn a lot.

I'm sure that's true, and I wouldn't be surprised. Bear in mind, though, I never? said that Harvard dominates every single ranking, but it definitely tops the lion's share of rankings. Princeton tops some others, as does MIT and, like I said, Chicago (and Caltech, Columbia, Yale, Stanford, etc.), but Harvard's global standing is unparalleled.

I was? considering Columbia Eng and Dartmouth over this place after I got into all three.....Got a decent merit-based scholarship, and made my decision based on whether I could graduate debt-free and without screwing my parents...In hind sight, I probably should've picked Uchicago over those two anyways - they're much better, and the college has a community-feel to it with accessibility to a great city and professors who pretty much hand out research opportunities.

When you get a 4.0 GPA but a 23 on the ACT.....luckily, that was not me, but I know the type.? 4.1 and a 32, with 800s on the Biology and Math II subject tests. Not amazing, but I'm pretty sure that and being black helped a bit. (spoiler alert - last year I was ranked 25 in my class with a 3.6 weighted.....and a 30 on the ACT. Slacker ftw.)

Just got into UChicago.....spent only 3 hours on the essays, well aside from the 50 hours from the Common App. Never thought they were considered the best though...Still waiting on HYPS.....MIT rejected me on pi day :(. Still, somehow I feel pumped...I'm gonna roll outta bed, drive to UChicago, and go? visit :).
