Everytime I hear this song it reminds me of how I found this series... Some Minecraft LPer always built spaceships ,no Battlestars, but he always made Viper Mk2s as standard fighters so one day I asked him where the design is from and he told me that it s from the series. I must say though, Hendrix music sucks... I liked Dylon's guitar version a lot better, though his singing makes him sound retarded. Sorry but that is incorrect. Hendrix released this just six months after Dylan did and Mason played the twelve string acoustic on the song. Dave Masons version didn't come out until 74. Mason was hanging out with Hendrix and he knew that Dave was able to handle the duty of playing the acoustic and Jimi was shouting out the chords to Dave as they were recording the song. Hendrix also played the bass guitar on? the final version as well.

This is the perfect cover song. Why? He made it his own. He could have played it just like Dylan did. But that wouldn't have been any fun, would it? Instead, he totally knocked it out of the park. Adore this cover. Best version outside of Dylan's own and Hendrix definitive magisterial, apocalyptic, reading. XTC sound like a wonderful collision between a farfisa organ? driven 60's psych' punk band, & 80's punk funk. One of the great mysteries of pop/rock music is why this amazing innovative band - who left most of their contemporary punk/newwave/postpunk peers in the dirt - remain so underrated & unrecognised? It's time that they should be reassessed as the fantastic band they are.

This is utterly fantastic. XTC led by Andy Partridge are one of the most intelligent and articulate bands to come out of the punk scene, and they never sold out. The criticism is ridiculous mainly themed on the fact that they dont sound like Dylan, Neil Young, or (deep? breath) Dave Mathews. If you dont get it then fine go and listen to The Dave Mathews Band - Easy radio listening for middle America - FFS!. XTC got me into Dylan at a time when British youth were not listening to him.

hendrix covered dylan and everyone knows that hendrix gave birth? to it. every guitarist appreciates this and do all along the watch tower hendix style almost with a reverence for the awesomeness with which hendrix done it. but it seems to me that it is missing the point and a better homage would be to take another song and hendrixify it. ok maybe no one would recognise that it was inspired by hendrix but I bet he would be smiling down from on high. it seems to me, more reverent.
