Thanks for your response, and everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion. I have to admit that Staley? is my fav. vocalist ever, but I don't feel that using the word "better" is appropriate. The 90's had many amazing vocalists: Layne, Kurt, Cornell, Lanegan, Vedder, Wood, ect... None of them were "better" than the other. If we're simply judging by range and pitch Geoff Tate and Mike Patton would take the cake, but it doesn't necessarily make them "better."

Hey, I was born in 1971, and grew up on? Van Halen, Blue Oyster Cult, Led Zepplin, Toto, Asia, and then Dokken. I listened to many of those '80's hair metal bands and I liked a lot of them. I respected Nirvana because they were so original, but I am much more of a Dave Grohl fan. I hooked on to AIC because their sound was fuller than their other grunge counterparts. And I liked Layne Staley's vocals, I felt he was much better than Kurt Cobain, but not quite on the level of Chris Cornell.

Very true. I just think there are certain players that fit that modern style of guitar really well...and some that don't. I could see Jerry playing PRS', but I couldn't imagine Slash playing anything but a Les Paul, or Angus Young playing anything but an SG, or SRV playing anything but a Strat. I guess PRS just screams "modern rock guitar" to me. I remember? the first time I saw Larry LaLonde playing a PRS, and I remember thinking "that's one beautiful badass guitar. Who makes that?"

I find a flaw in this kind of thinking seeing as how it is a cover. Layne was amazing and so when you do a cover of an amazing artist, hell any artist, comparisons are inevitable, so when Justin Bieber did a cover of a Queen song, everyone said it was inferior, why? Because Bieber is a bag of asses that can't sing, especially not when you compare him to Freddy Mercury. While I agree that covering a song is a compliment to the original artist. I just don't agree with you... at all. I guess the drums? and bass are alright, but the lead singer, just kills it for me, her voice just lacks the roughness that makes Layne so great. Now i know that she's a chick and it probably isn't fair to compare the two, but look up Avril Lavigne's cover of Fuel and I think you'll know what I mean. Very nice observation I would say. Well the reason for that is, to express past real positions (reality), we use the helping verb 'was', but to express imaginary positions we use 'were' instead of 'was' E.g., I was a teacher means that my past position was that of teacher? and "if I were" means I supposed myself to be in that position. I think the reason this song is so great is that it gives us hope that we will succeed. There aren't many songs about infertility out there and this one was written when she was struggling, just like many of us on here, to conceive. My husband and I? have been trying for 21 months so I know the struggle but I can still relate to this. I look at the end when she is holding her child and think about how there is a light at the end of this long tunnel.

But I did get the next best thing on Mother's Day. My son(I refuse to call him step son) called me and after being his step mom for 9 years called me and said "Happy Mother's Day". I am a 51 year old woman who was only able to achieve pregnancy once-when I was 27 and had only been married for 3 months. I ended up losing the baby twice-once through a D&C and then 2 weeks later due? to an ectopic pregnancy. Guilt is only felt by the guilty. If they haven't done something wrong, they wont feel the guilt. Bottom line, a baby's heartbeat can be detected as early as 6 weeks. Most women not trying to get pregnant, don't even know they are until 8 or more weeks. How can you stop someone's beating heart? Even if they aren't born yet, or they don't 'look' like a baby.
