Religion is centred around belief in a deity, for which no empirical proof exists. There is abundant evidence however for evolution that is now accepted even by the Roman Catholic Church. As for global warming, the jury's still out but it is certainly not a tax deductible 'religion' There is no single Christian catechism, in fact the 34,000 denominations cannot even agree on Birth Control? and Divorce, let alone Homosexuality. Many Christianities now welcome open LGBT as clergy and congregation.

Your definition of religion is slightly off. Global warming and evolution can be a religion too. I am not superior to everyone else, just forgiven, but I can see where religion would leave that "sour taste" in a persons mouth. Heck,? I deal with it frequently.
